Nathaniel Brewster's ancestry was the subject of much discussion for several generations. If one wishes to refer to some of the background materials, much has been written by Donald Lines Jacobus, M.A. of New Haven Connecticut, and published in "The American Genealogist and New Haven Genealogical Magazine". Mr. Jacobus' articles begin in Vol. 12, 1935/36, page 199 through 210; and continues in Vol. 13, page 8 through 21 (July 1936); Vol. 13, page 113 through 116 (October 1936); Vol. 13, page 154 through 163 (Jan 1937); and is concluded in Vol. 13, page 221 through 233 (April 1937). These articles will not be discussed further here. However, much of the information presented in this genealogy comes from material presented in those articles by Donald Lines Jacobus. In July 1936, evidence was revealed by Jacobus that the Rev. Nathaniel Brewster's parents were Francis and Lucy Brewster. See "The American Genealogist and New Haven Genealogical Magazine", Volume XIII, pp. 8-21, which is a continuation of the article from Vol. XII, pp. 199-210. SOURCE-Baptism-Marriage of LUCY JONES >From research performed by Geoffrey T. Roberts, Genealogist & Record Searcher, 4 Beryl Grove, Bristol BS149EB, in 1985, at the request of Harriet J. Scott of 3443 Evergreen Point Road, Bellevue WA 98004: Mr. Roberts copied the following from the Parish registers 1576-1640 of Christchurch, Bristol, England: "1596/7 Jan 12 Lucy d/o Richard Jones, skinner, baptised. 1600 Jun 15 Lucy d/o Richard Jones, skinner, baptised. 1624 Sept 05 Francis Brewster and Lucy Joanns, married. 1637/8 Richard Joannes, skinner, buried." Mr. Jacobus states "For the benefit of the many descendants, we append a brief resume of Nathaniel Brewster's immediate descendants. For some of this material, we are indebted to the manuscript compiled by Mrs. May L. Sullivan of San Francisco, Calif., to be seen in the New York Public Library. On some branches, the present compiler [Jacobus] has added considerable data. We cannot vouch for the accuracy of all the data set forth, but include it as a help and guide to future historians of the Brewster family, and to make it more readily accessible."
