Jean Brevard was the daughter of Adam Brevard & Mary McKnitt. She was born 1734 in MD & died in 1770. She married Hezekiah Sellards in March 1759. He was the son of John Peter Sellards & possibly born in Ireland. Adam Brevard was the son of Jean Brevard & Katherine McKnitt. He was born 1712 in Elks River, MD & died before July 1783 in Cecil Co., MD. He married Mary McKnitt (daughter of John McKnitt & Dorothy Wallace) in 1733 in Cecil Co., MD. Jean Brevard was born 1665 in France & died 1730-1735 in Elks River, MD. He married Katherine McKnitt (daughter of John McKnitt & Jane Alexander) in 1711 in Cecil Co., MD. Hi, The big move of the lists to the new system starts Tuesday. They are scheduled to begin the migration of all of the lists on Tuesday Aug 15. The lists will be migrated alphabetically by first letter of the list name. The schedual is listed here: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html If you are using a Spam filter I suggest that you add the new name of the list to your accept lists and you might even add the name in lower case. Although mailing-list name-L is still supposed to work for incomming not all out going email has the -L on it also athough lower case/uppper case letters are not supposed to matter, I did noticed that hotmail sent an email that had the name in lowercase to my junk file... So if after Our mailing list is moved if we could start using the new name for the emails it might be better. You might want to add the new name of all the lists you belong to to your spam filter as accepted...to keep from having problems there too. the gatewayed message boards (Message boards that send an email to the matching mailing list), will not work for a while...until the moves and updates are finished.. Remember if you are subscribed in both normal mode and digest mode only the normal mode of delivery will work.. You will have to subscribe from a different addy then you use for normal mail delivery... Mailman does not accept two subscriptions from same email addy. Nathaniel Alexander of NC. Dr. Brevard married a daughter of Thomas Polk, according to most sources. Her name was Martha, though some have called her Mary, and even Margaret. [I have a Mary Polk, dau of Thomas Polk, who married a Mr. Brown. So Mary seem not to be the wife of Brevard.] Can anyone tell me which daughter it was? What her name actually was? All references that I've seen have stated that Ephram & Martha Polk Brevard only had one child, a daughter named Martha Brevard. She married Henry H. Dickerson, and they had one son, James P. Dickerson who was killed in the assault on Mexico City. But the wife of the Gov. is mentioned many times as Margaret Polk Brevard, dau of Dr. Ephraim & Martha Polk Brevard. And many times she is mentioned as only Margaret Polk, dau of Thomas Polk. Which is it? Thanks very much for your help!

(I find John F Brevard in 1820 E of So Fork of Catawba River, Lincoln Co, NC living alone). I am interested in him because the executors of the will are Robert Wilson Sr and Ephraim A Brevard. I am looking for a link between the Wilson and Brevard families. I would like to know if this is the same John F brevard that married Margaret J Conner in 1820. Can you help? I also have a deed Robert Wilson to Benjamin Brevard, 120 AC Iredell Co, NC on Feb 1830 Another deed in Iredell Co, NC March 8 1832 Benjamin Brevard to James Sloan $60 1/2 tract cont 120 AC orig granted to Robt Smith, then to Robt Wilson, and by him to Benj Brevard & Andrew Hart jointly. Also an Iredell Co, NC lawsuit May 1811 Moses Nesbit (another of my line) vs Hugh Brevard's executors - plaintiff gets 61 pounds money. I would like to see a copy of that one in full.

On 26 Sep 1856, Candace Callahan married a D. L. Brevard in Cass Co. GA. Candace was supposedly the daughter of William W. Callahan and Polly Howe of Clarke Co. GA. In 1860, David L. Brevard and his wife, Candace, were residing in Buncombe Co. NC. They had a son named Albert, b. cir 1859/60. David's occupation was listed as mechanic. In Jul 1862, D. L. Brevard, 30 yr old mechanic from Buncombe Co. NC enlisted as a 3rd Lt. in Co. C, 60 NC Inf Regt. CSA. He was also listed as a bugler. He resigned his commission in Nov. 1862. In 1870 Candace Brevard, her son, Albert, age 10, and a daughter, Neptune, age 1, were residing in the "poor house" in Bartow Co. GA. In 1880 Candace Brevard, her son Albert, age 20, and her daughter, Venus N. Brevard, age 11, were residing in Cartersville, Bartow Co. GA. Albert was listed as a cabinet maker. In 1910, Albert Brevard and his sister, Neptune, were residing in Cartersville, Bartow Co. GA. If any of this appears to fit or is of use to you let me know.
