There were five Mennonite families from Zweibrücken on the Ship Hope (1733) who became Brethren. In addition to Flory, Stouder, and Longenecker, who settled in Rapho Township, there were also the Reinhardt and Grumbacher/Crumpacker families. The Reinhardts and Grumbachers settled on the Schoolkill River in Conventry Township in Chester County. They were baptized by Martin Urner and became Brethren leaders in the Conventry congregation and later on beyond Pennsylvania in Maryland and Virginia. Although most of the Longeneckers were associated with the Conestoga congregation, one of the Longenecker immigrants as I recall was associated with the Coventry congregation. For background, there were 27 Mennonite families in the Zweibrücken Congregation in 1732. There were 14 Mennonite families on the Ship Hope in 1733, of which 11 of these families were from the Zweibücken Congregation. The 5 families who became Brethren mentioned above were among these 11. I wonder if that was just a coincidence or due to the times when Michael Frantz and Martin Urner were near their evangelical peaks. Dwayne Wrightsman
