Thank you for the info. At least now I know that David Martin could not be the father of my Elizabeth since he died in 1794 and she was born in 1795. I'll see what I can find with some of his children. Maybe my Elizabeth was the daughter of one of David's sons.****************** David Martin was in South Carolina, as were those of his brothers and sisters who went on south - George Adam Martin's brother, Nicholas Martin, lived in Maryland, but is noted in North Carolina (I think he was either in the Uhwarrie River area, or at the Forks of the Yadkin). It would be His Children where I would look for family connections (and in my files, I only have one son - out of how many). I have Martins in the Kentucky churches and I did not have enough information to know where they came from. As I suggest above, I think any connection would be found with the Nicholas Martin clan (especially since they were from North Carolina). - your Daniel Sears of course married Elizabeth Martin (1817) - at that time the Sears family was living in Simpson/Logan Co (Drakes Creek Area) - near the Tennessee border (vicinity of I-65). That does not mean that Elizabeth was living in the Drakes Creek area - there was travel between the churches, especially over to Muhlenberg Co and up toward Louisville. Samuel Sears (father of Daniel) - and probably the whole family - moved to Sangamon Co IL about 1828 (when a number of those western Brethren moved - and became "the Far Western Brethren" of 1850 Illinois), then about 1840 to Lee Co IA, where Samuel Sears died. (In my Sears Family file) I had the destination for Daniel and Elizabeth listed for Decatur Co IA. Daniel's cousin -Mary Sears (dau of Jacob Sears/Mary Huffstutter) married Josiah Martin in 1831. That family had moved across the Ohio River to Harrison Co IN about 1814. Most of these families moved on to Vermillion Co IN. I do not know if there is a connection there - with your Elizabeth Martin -David Wright married an Elizabeth Martin in 1838. They lived in Washington Co - south of Salem IN - just north of Harrison Co. The Wrights were Brethren from the Carolinas - and were instrumental in leading the Brethren into the Disciples of Christ Church. John Wright, father of David, was a preacher (with 2 of this brothers) in the Blue River Baptist Association - which went Disciples just before they led the Brethren Association into the Disciples. There were other Martins in the Kentucky area - I did not pursue this family name - these are the only ones I included. Merle
