    3. The 1776 Frederick County, MD non-enrollers list (those who refused to be part of the militia), includes Andrew Arnold, Daniel Arnold, John Arnold, and John Arnold son of John. The non-enroller list (called non-associator lists in PA) trumps militia lists, which would have included names of those eligible for duty. Many make the false assumption that being on a militia lists meant that you served in the militia. Even those who showed up for muster, didn't necessarily serve in a unit that saw any military action. Militia typically fought in local battles, and the war was a long way off from Western Maryland. In?"Allegheny Passage"?Emmert sites the wills of John Arnold and Andrew Arnold (brothers of Daniel).? He indicates that their father, John George, died intestate, but he sites John George's wife, Anna Maria Barth's?will.? I couldn't find any?mention iof the wills of Daniel (who married Agnes Stoner) or Samuel (who married Elizabeth Lehn).? Does anyone have first hand knowledge of whether Daniel and Samuel wrote wills, and if so, when and where they were filed?? (Just looking to save some time - since so many others have already researched these lines.)? 2) According to the family history my aunt gave me,?the above George Arnold's first wife was named Catherine Leatherman.??I know that both the Arnold and Leatherman families were Dunker/Brethren, and these families intermarried a lot.? However, I've checked?"Allegheny Passage" and "All the Leatherman Kin", but I've never found any documentation of which Leatherman family George Arnold's wife Catherine came from.? In fact, I've never found any solid?evidence that George Arnold's first wife's?name actually was Catherine Leatherman.? Does anyone know if there is any actual?evidence that?George's wife's?maiden name was Leatherman, and if so, how this particular Catherine Leatherman connects into the Leatherman families? 3) Finally, the above George Arnold's son Jacob married Catherine Drushel, daughter of John Drushel (a.k.a. Johannes Trushel) and Katherine Mowry.??The Drushel/Trushel surname isn't mentioned in Allegheny Passage, or in any of the Brethren references I've come across thus far.? Does anyone know if the Drushel/Trushel family were Brethren? ? A huge thank you in advance to anyone willing to provide their insights! ------------------------ Search the Archives at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/BRETHREN ------------------------ Support Our Sponsoring Agency The Fellowship Of Brethren Genealogists (FOBG) For further information contact Ron McAdams mailto:McAdamsr@hotmail.com ------------------------ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BRETHREN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
