    1. [BRE] Donner/Danner/Tanner
    2. Merle and all. I have been going through what Merle has written on this list and some copies from several books I made back in 2002 in hopes of proving or at least finding some evidence of the parentage of George Donner, Sr. I think all I have done is further confuse myself! >From what I had copied I am beginning to not believe the Jacob in MD. is the father of George, Sr. and his brother Jacob, Jr. Jacob who was the son of Michael moved to MD. about 1762 having been born in York County, Pa. about 1762 He MD. Elizabeth Boechtel, however he was still in MD. in 1799 and died a few years later. The Jacob in Rowan with 2 sons, George and Jacob, Jr. was in Rowan before and during the Rev. There was another Michael Danner who arrived Philadelphia in Sept. 1741 This Michael had a brother Dieter (Dietrich). Tieter died in 1768 and was a blacksmith and had the following children: Margaret, Mary, David, Catherine, Jacob, Susannah & Esther. In the Records of the Moravians in North Carolina I find the following references: October 14, 1764: Dieter Dannner, son-in-law of old Mother Hauser, arrived from Manacasy in MD. to visit here and in Bethania and look for land. Next day he bought the 400 acres of his brother-in-law, Michael Hauser for 80 lbs. It is a good farm. Feb. 26, 1772: George Hauser came in his wagon from Bethania, bringing the Archive close made by Bullitscheck; here he took on most of Br. and Sr. Reuter's baggage and furniture, taking them to Salem. Br. Reuter left day before yesterday, already, as this week he is to survey 800 acres on the Ens, near Peter Pfaff, for Schutz and Tanner, two Baptists from the Huwaren. Feb. 17, 1778 Jacob Tanner arrived with one wagon, which had a load of goods for our store. His second wagon had an accident on the way, as it was fording a stream, for a mill-dam above the ford broke, and the water rushed down upon the wagon and team. The teamster cut his horses loose and came out with the, but the wagon remained in the water for 24 hours before it could be taken out, and about 20 bushels of salt, which was in barrels, was all melted. I wish I had known when I made the copies to check on the Hauser's - live and learn! Connie, maybe we are related! Jo Ann in Houston. **************Gas prices getting you down?
