    2. Merle, I checked censuses and found several Ritters in Shelby with large families, and one in Spencer in 1840. The census page was cropped on the left for a couple of Ritters, with no first name available. Others were George (2), Michael, and John G in Spencer only. In 1830 Conrad, John, and Michael were in SE District, Shelby. In 1820 and before several Ritter families were in Barren and Jessamine Cos. Spencer Co KY marriage records start in 1824, but Shelby was formed earlier than that. I found a Henry Ritten to Mary Taylor in 1840 in Spencer Co. I I don't have Shelby Co marriages.
