    3. Fayette Co PA was called Redstone (Redstone Fort, etc). "Redstone" was used to describe the red banks along the Monongahela River running through Fayette Co and Washington Co, to Allegheny Co. The most red banks through were in Fayette Co. The Indians described it as redstone. Not a great explanation, but try the Fayette Co list on Yahoo and the Fayette Co website on Rootsweb (PAGenWeb for Fayette).
