Actually Balir Co. was formed from elements of Huntingdon and Bedford Co. in 1840. believe me when I say there were lots of people there before 1840. Tyrone, PA (north of Altoona in Blair County) was founded in 1850. The Tyrone area was unsettled Indian territory in 1728. The first settlers came to what is now Blair County in the 1740's.
