    3. John Kessler died 14 Feb 1845 at his daughter's house (Elizabeth, wife of Nathaniel Burket) in Kosciusko Co IN. He is the son of Elder Ulrich Kessler, of the Uwharrie Church, Rowan Co NC, where John was born, 1768. His wife was Mary Custer. They moved first to Wilkes Co NC, then followed the Custer family to Mill Creek, Hamilton Co OH, c1800. They moved to Dublin IN, where Mary died. John Custer (Mary's father) is known as an 'Eternal Restorationist' (Pietist Univeralism). Dubliin IN was a Universalist Conference Center after the National Road went through - about 1835. A grandson, Samuel Custer, says that most of the family were Universalists, but Brethren. Is this B E Kesler of this family? Merle C Rummel > B.E. 3. Merle, John Kessler was born 9 July 1768 in an unknown location in PA. His family moved from PA to Rockingham County VA living there less than a decade, then Wilkes now Ashe County NC in 1789 where he was married to Mary Custer. They left Ashe County c1812 moving to Hamilton County OH and the following year to Jefferson Township, Montgomery County OH, c1832 to Stony Creek Township, Henry County IN. Yet in the later decade, some of their children moved further northwest into Indiana and it is not established if John followed in these moves or went directly to Kosciusko County where he died. No, B. E. Kesler is not from this general family. 3. Is this John Kessler related to the Johannes Kessler (b Tyrone PA, 3/8/1727/28, d 3/24/1813, Botetourt Co., VA) m 1755 Eva Dorothea Lehman (1/24/1733/34, Montgomery Co., MD- d7/24/1798 Botetourt Co., VA). Apparently Johannes and Eva Dorothea were living in Frederick Co., MD, ca 1763-1778, when their sons Daniel, Christian, Benjamin, David, and Abraham were born-- assuming my records are correct.) 3. RE: Johannes Kessler (b Tyrone PA, 3/8/1727/28, d 3/24/1813, Botetourt Co., VA) I think you have an error in your birth location. Tyrone, PA (north of Altoona in Blair County) was founded in 1850. The Tyrone area was unsettled Indian territory in 1728. The first settlers came to what is now Blair County in the 1740's.
