Hello Everyone, I am interested in learning more about any Fitterman or Kellum. Has anyone come across any of the Fitterman or Kellum? Time period 1780-1850 Locations: Clermont County, Ohio, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Maryland I am trying to find the first husband and family of Elizabeth Kellum Fitterman (1785-1861) who was the second wife of Stephen Bolander (1756-1820). Thank You, Debbie Freeman
I have several Bolender/Shenkle papers - The Shinkle Family 1897 (additions by Elbert Newhouse - 1983) Harold Miller papers on both Bolender and Shinkle K Merrill Bolender's book - Shaking the Branches (also - stated that there is a microfiche on the Shinkle Family at the Library in Cincinnati) I do not have the name of Elizabeth (Betsy) Kellum Fitterman's first husband (it could also be Fetterman - from 2 different papers) she was the sister of Thomas Kellum [wife: Elizabeth Shinkle - sister of Stephen Bolender's first wife - Margreta Shinkle] It states that Betsy was 26 years old when she married Stephen Bolender (Brethren preacher) (m. 19 Aug 1811) He was 55 years, and together they had 5 children. (names given) (Stephen had 11 children by his first wife) Stephen died 5 months after the youngest (Mary A) -1820 (Betsy lived 41 more years) Stephen's will gives Betsy right to live on the "plantation" for her life (1342 Acres - 3 miles NE of Felicity OH), but at death, her will, she was living in Brown County - and gave her property to her daughter Mary Ann Kellum now her daughter - Mary A Bolender - married John B Young - so I don't know who Mary Ann Kellum was - she was not a Fitterman Shinkle Family paper says that Thomas Kellum came to Ohio when he was 20, with a brother and family. That the father died when Thomas was young. They were from Eastern Shore Maryland. Thomas lived at Feesburg OH The Bolenders and Shinkles had moved from Berks County to Northumberland Co PA - to Penns Creek, Brush Valley, now the eastern part of Centre Co PA, I do not live down in Clermont County -to be able to check the Genealogy section at the Batavia Library. I did get my first information on the family there. The Benton Christian Chapel Cemetery is where Stephen is buried (on his farm), although he died before the Benton Chapel was built. The Olive Branch Christian Church seems to have been the original Bullskin Brethren Church (2-3 miles SE of Felicity OH) the Bullskin Brethren Church was "expelled" (their term) by Annual Meeting I do not have any information on the name Fitterman.
