The Squire Boone family was placed on "reprimand" by their Quaker Church, at Oley (PA) - there were several things that happened that caused this - Daniel's eldest sister, Sarah, married the german, John Wilcockson (Wilcoxin), in 1742. She was "too conversant" before marriage, and was "great with child". Squire was reprimanded by the church, that he was not in control of his family. also - John Wilcockson was not a Quaker. Daniel's next eldest sibling, his brother, Israel, "married out" of the church (1747), and the family was expelled. We are not sure who he married, but in search there is the name Martha. In one case she was named Martha Morgan, in another her father was named John Maugridge. Both Israel and Martha died of "consumption" (TB) in Rowan Co NC in 1755-56, and Daniel took and raised the 5 little children In regard of both of these people, there has been consideration that they were Brethren (uh- really!) Can anyone give any kind of confirmation -yes or no? (I do not know the Oley region that well.) The result was Squire leaving Oley. Austin Cooper identifies a short stop at Boonesboro MD (based on local traditions), then another stop with kin in the Valley, before arriving on the Yadkin River in 1751. Merle C Rummel
