    3. > I'm still trying to track the Huston family back to Thomas Huston (b. ca. 1740) > Interesting - would this be Thomas Huston and wife Agnes? We had two families of Huston come to the corner of Preble Co OH. A Matthew Huston and brother, Thomas, settled in what is now Huston Woods State Park - Matthew was a waggoner for General Anthony Wayne, traveling between Fort Hamilton (Hamilton OH) and Fort Greenville (Greenville OH). In the process, he settled on the Four Mile Creek. Huston Woods is a remnant of the original estate. I neglected to record data on this family, although I know that the father lived in the vicinity of Fort Littleton, Bedford Co PA. (Descendants had a book -shown to me.) The family moved to Fort ... now Wheeling WVa, where Matthew joined up in Gen Wayne's expedition to Cincinnati and the Northwest Territory. They claimed to be a brother of Thomas -who lived east of them, across the mountain in Franklin Co PA. The other family were three sons of Thomas and Agnes Huston: James, Samuel and Thomas Jr. (James born 1764/Samuel born 1768/Thomas Jr born 1776). They came to Matthew Huston's lands, then obtained their own. James and Samuel lived in the corner of Preble Co OH, just outside of College Corner OH. They divided a section of land (640 acres) between them. Thomas lived west of College Corner, in the little town of Cottage Grove. They were active members of the Lower Four Mile Church. James and Samuel died the same day, in the 1822 Cholera Epidemic, and are buried in the Kingery Cemetery near them (edge of Huston Woods Park). Thomas Jr died 3 Oct 1850, and is buried in the Keffer Cemetery, south of Cottage Grove (where a Brethren Church building stood for a while). Thomas and Agnes Huston moved from Franklin Co PA to Franklin Co VA -then the three sons came here to the Four Mile (now Union Co IN, but originally Franklin Co IN). I do not have information on whether Thomas and Agnes also came here, but I doubt it. Since I wasn't really interested in the Matthew Huston line, I did not record information they had. I do not have the name of Matthew's parents or grandparents (I think I did, but have no idea where the paper is) - and the latter would have been the parents of Thomas (wife Agnes). Or is the Thomas you are researching, possibly the parent? The family that had the book of information were retired, living at the Otterbein Home, Otterbein OH, but that was years ago. 3. caught an error after I sent the e-mail I have the Pennsylvania locations reversed - Thomas and Agnes Huston lived near Fort Littleton, in Bedford Co PA (probably near that little town of Hustonville). Matthew's parents lived in Franklin Co PA, before they moved to Fort Henry (Wheeling). 3. Re: Fort Littleton, in Bedford Co PA Fort Littleton is in present day Fulton County. It is an exit on the PA Turnpike. However, I believe Fulton County was at one time part of Bedford County.
