Probably from an Iowa newspaper (undated clipping), found in my great-grandfather's scrapbook, perhaps about 1929: "ILLINOIS LADY DIED AT EMMERT HOME. "MRS ANNA STARR PASSED AWAY SEPT 28 AT HOME OF MR & MRS O E EMMERT." "Mrs Anna Starr, aged aunt of Mrs. O E Emmert, passed away at the home of the latter last Saturday, September 28th. Mrs. Starr came here from Illinois several months ago for a visit, and her illness prevented the return trip to her home. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and the body shipped to Lena, Illinois that night. "Anna Sheaffer, daughter of Marin and Leah Sheaffer, and wife of John Wesley Starr, was born January 14, 1856 [sic], in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania and died September 28, 1929 at Adel, Iowa, aged 78 years 8 months and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died on August 10, 1926. "In the early sixties she came with her parents to Illinois, locating in West Point township of Stephenson Co., where nearly all of the rest of her life was spent. She was long a member of the Church of the Brethren and was always interested in her church and in the Christian faith. "Mrs Starr is survived by her only son, Frank B Starr, who with his wife and two daughters, Stella M and Mildred M, of Lena, Illinois, compose the immediate family. There are also one brother and two sisters, John S Shaeffer of Adel, Mrs Lizzie Moore of Adel, and Mrs Leah Forhney of Rasin, California." Note: I tried adding 1856 DOB and 78 years and couldn't make that work for 1929. So either she was born about 1850, or she was 73 y when she died. Something doesn't compute.
