Mar. 10, 1740 married Mary Groff dec. 21, 1770. Mary was the daughter of Jacob Groff and Barbara Brackbill. and Grand-daughter of Bishop Benedict Brackbill and Maria Herr. They lived in Soudersburg, PA. Mary's grandfather on the Groff side was Hans Groffk of Conestoga who bought land in 1730 in present-day Paradise Twp., PA John Herr built the first grist mill on acres warranted to Mary's grandfather Hans Groff and willed by her father Jacob Groff. 2nd wife was to widow Maria Strohm. Nest generation children: John Herr b. 1773, d. 1823, married Susanna Brackbill Ann Herr d. Oct 1823 Married Samuel Herr. Barbara Herr, married Abraham Groff son of Jacob Groff and Alice Kendig. Janet
