    3. I was doing some research at the Mifflin County, PA Courthouse this week, and came across early Stump info. There is an 1825 deed where a William Stumpff and his wife Mary sell 108 acres in Decatur Township, Mifflin County to a George Seigler. I found an 1815 tax list for Decatur Township on the internet, which lists two William Stumpf's, a Peter Stumpf, and a John Stumpf. Also on the net is an 1877 atlas of the township that shows Stumpf's living near Seigler's in Decatur Township. The 1850 census shows a Stumpf family living in Decatur Township, including a Mary Stumpf, age 70. Decatur Township is in the upper part of the County past Lewistown. There was an early German Baptist congregation in Alfarata in adjacent Derry Township. Is anyone familiar with this Stump family? Bill Thomas
