To: brethren-l@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <59816.51015.qm@web34803.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Another question- I for quite for a few months been trying to subscribe to Kosciusko COunty Indiana Rootsweb Listserv. Website says Gene Andert is in charge, but months ago I tried to contact him since he had some of my Arnold relatives on his website and they needed updating. He finally wrote once that 'I have no more time for genealogy'(still has the big website up though). Is this Listserv not active? Who would I write to for more information who is active in doing searches in Kosciusko, as nobody has responeded on their Gen Web Site. Thanks, as know that county has lots of Brethren connections. --------------------------------- Message: 4 Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 00:19:50 -0500 From: "Judy Florian" <cageycat@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [BRE] Is Kosciusko County Listserv not active- who do I contact? If it IS a "GenWeb" site, the webmaster has 2 choices: 1. work on the website or 2. step down as County Coordinator. IF it is a GenWeb county site, visit the State GenWeb or USGenWeb to get the email of a Volunteer supervivor over that State/area. RW has mailing Lists rather than Listservs. If the person is a List Owner over a List, they also should not respond negatively to inquiries about the List. If the website is "private" -- on a dot com, dot org or even "RW freepages" space, there is NO rule a webmaster must continue, must update, or do anything if they choose to stop. So, first, re-visit the website. See if it has icons for a State GenWeb / US GenWeb... if it does have the icons, visit the regular GenWeb site for a "supervisor" email where you can complain. One downfall of the Internet is webmasters do tire, get old, lose interest, become ill, or die. I only hope if I can't continue my webs, that people will still find value in what I posted. You might choose to make your own website, listing all the corrections, with a link to the website that you believe contains errors.
