    3. I think I read somewhere that the Johannes and Johanna KIPPING family has been researched by the German scholar, Marcus Meier, and wonder if anyone knows about this research and how it can be accessed. Meier was a visiting scholar at Elizabethtown College some years ago. Johannes and Johanna Kipping were among the eight original members of the Brethren baptized in 1708. They immigrated with family members on the Ship Allen in 1729. Other men on the Ship Allen were married to their daughters, John George Koch and Christian Kropf among them. Andreas Kropf married one of the Kipping daughters soon after arrival. I suspect, but have no proof, that Ship Allen passengers Johannes Petticoffer and Johannes Slaughter may have also been related by marriage to the Kipping family. Soon after arrival the Kippings, Kochs, and Kropfs bought land and were recorded as members of the Conestoga Congregation in the area near Cocalico, Ephrata, and Warwick in Lancaster County. The Petticoffers and Slaughters settled in Germantown. Later the Petticoffers removed to Ephrata. The Slaughters remained in Germantown. I very much want to learn about Johannes Slaughter's wife Catherine. Although she left her husband in 1750, she was nevertheless named in his will of 1759. Was Catherine Slaughter born a Kipping, or possibly a Kropf? The name Kipping has a number of variations including Kippinger, Keppinger, Kuppinger, Kueppinger, Kuepping, and possibly others. I know my query deals with very early Brethren history, but hope someone might have an insight on some aspect of this. Thanks. Dwayne Wrightsman
