In his Bible entries, my ancestor Mathias Snider says he was born (1757) in 'Barcks" Co., "Barne" Township, eight "Meilles" from Reading. I'm not sure where Berne Twp is in Berks Co., I'm thinking it includes the nw part of Reading. But would Bernville have been in the original Berne Township, which I believe was formed originally in Lancaster Co. Can anyone tell me in present-day terms where that's likely to have been? For the life of me I cannot find township maps for PA counties though I know I've seen them on the internet and I know there's a set of state maps that show the changes in county borders over the passing years. They are simply outline maps, but that's a help. And, where does one find good maps online? What I'm looking for are relief maps, with township and county borders, either new or old. I use Google Earth, but for some reason town and city names don't show up even though it seems to me I have the right boxes checked. Mapquest and the like are some help, and topographical maps with all the little lines drive me bananas. Thanks for any help!!
