Nel, If this helps any, Parke Co is the county northwest of Putnam Co in Indiana http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.accessgenealogy.com/indiana/incty.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.accessgenealogy.com/indiana/incty.htm&h=681&w=477&sz=32&tbnid=16JIxbCWhaurWM:&tbnh=139&tbnw=97&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dindiana%2Bcounties%2Bmap%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=indiana+counties+map&usg=__uOp95hBUTrggpqa-4u_GOKnxk50=&sa=X&ei=hh3gTaLkMNTogQfyzvDdCg&ved=0CDIQ9QEwCA It was very common for people to migrate between the 2 counties. Looks like you're on to something! It seems even more likely that my William belonged to one of the Baptist churches who were booted out at the 1822 Annual Meeting with some of those families moving north into southern IN followed by William marrying in 1823. Here would be another clue. William seemed to have used the naming pattern of the times with his first 5 children named John, Abram, Nancy, Samuel and Mary. 1) John being Wm's father, 2) Abram being Martha's father, 3) Nancy being Martha's mother OR the name of BOTH their mothers, 5) Mary being Wm's mother. It is proven that 2 and 3 or correct, implying that Wm's father would be John and his mother Mary UNLESS she was also a Nancy. I've been trying to mow 200 acres of grass - in between the rains - and just now got to reading your message Potter John Miller (son of Elder Jacob Miller - wife Phoebe McClure) had an eldest son: William (b 1793) I have no other information on William BUT - all the rest of Potter John's children (except the youngest - Abraham) went to Park Co IN - 1818 and soon after - Potter John and Phoebe went in 1823, but returned about 1848 to Union Co IN. (Children were: Jacob; Tobias; Mary; John; Daniel; James; Barbara - and spouses) There were others from the Four Mile who went that way - the Raccoon Creek Church was formed among all of these - in northwester Putnam Co - which I do not know how close that would be to the Miller children.
