If you use this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parke_County,_Indiana and scroll down to Townships, you can click on the townships to see them on a county map. My William, using his BLM land grants, lived in Liberty Twp but the northern half of his property was in FountainCo. He is in ParkeCo in 1830 but FountainCo thru 1860. I don't know if he died in FountainCo or went to IA with his sons. On the map you'll see that Liberty and Raccon Twnshps are about as far as you can get from each other. I suppose it's not unreasonable to find that a Miller in Liberty Twp is related to a Miller in Raccoon. The only difficulty I see is that the Ten O'Clock line, one of the Indian boundaries, crosses the county at an angle from northwest to southeast. Folks in the south part of the county bought land that was available before the land in the northern part. I think you can see the division on the Genweb site. Two land offices, at least, were involved in land purchases in Parke County; these were Vincennes and Crawfordsville. If parties arrived at the same time, you would think they would try to locate together and would go to the same land office. On the other hand, when some of my Brethren ancestors went to Delaware County, a few from Miami Co OH ended up in Howard County for a while. Perhaps it was a case of buying what was readily available .
