    3. Mariah Royer, daughter of Daniel and Catharine Kemper Royer married Abraham Groff. She died before 1827. Since the Royer name has been associated with Ephrata, perhaps this is a line to explore regarding the Groff line of recent discussion. 1. [BRE] How does on reasearch Ephrata names?

    3. I was thinking about trying to find evidence of Jacob Schmucker in early Brethren records, and I keep swirling around that Ephrata Cloister. What kinds of records are available for that place? 3. Janet, I have Mariah [Royer] Groff married to Abraham Groff (1760-1827), son of Franz Groff (1734-1819) of Rapho Township. Several of the children of Franz Groff seem to have married along the tier of Lancaster County townships that run, west to east, from Rapho, to Warwick, to Cocalico (of which Ephrata spun off). It is possible that the Rapho Groffs were related somehow to the Cocalico/Ephrata Graffs, but I don't know how. The Groff/Graff families are pervasive in Lancaster County. They have been studied many times over, and no one (including Richard Warren Davis and the authors of the Groff Books I and II) can keep them all straight. Now and then I go to WorldConnect to scout out the alleged connections between the Groff/Graff families, and come away with the sinking feeling that no one really knows the connections. However, I want to credit Brent Rhodes for having the most trustworthy WorldConnect Graf/Graff/Groff/Grove website in my opinion.
