Feb 1, 1840/d. Nov 23, 1928] was the son of Jacob Sell and Elizabeth Burger. W. B.'s father Jacob was a brother to Daniel Sell who married Rachel Detweiler. Listed among the charter members of the Smith Fork/Plattsburg church, organized August 3, 1866 are Abraham [Burger] Sell and wife [Emelia Susannah Gruber] [brother to W. B.]; George Sell and wife [Elizabeth Kephart] [brother to Daniel Detweiler Sell] William B. [Burger] Sell and wife [Catherine Knoll]; Jacob Sell and wife [Elizabeth Burger]; and Daniel Detweiler Sell. Most likely these families were all part of the colony from Blair County PA who arrived in spring of 1866. W. B. Sell was called to the ministry in the Hamilton church located near the Caldwell and Daviess County lines in Missouri, December 25, 1868. The Hamilton group was organized in his 18 x 28 ft carpentry shop on August 19, 1868 with Elders Christian Long and John Metzger of Illinois present for the organization. W. B. was ordained to the eldership in the Long Branch Church, Harrison county, MO, Sept 11, 1877 with Elders S. A. Garber and L. M. Kob of Iowa presiding. Sometime in the 1890's W. B. moved to southeastern Kansas where he later joined the Brethren Church before his death in 1928.
