Davis obit (died 28 Oct 1896) To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain I want to thank the people who weighed in on the issue of Brethren doctrine and Free Masonry. I was afraid that there wouldn't be a definitive conclusion to the question and it turns out that I was right. I do I have a few more arrows in my quiver for establishing the religion of Jacob Z. Davis. I'm curious if anyone on the list has access to an obit for Jacob Z. Davis, who died 28 Oct 1896 at the Continental Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. He was in Philadelphia to see to the process that he had started to build an expansion of the Germantown Church of the Brethren. Because of this, his death might have been listed in a Brethren magazine purely for that reason. The writer of the obit might have mentioned whether he was a member of the church or not. Just an idea. Thanks. David Myers ____________________________________________________________ 57 Year Old Mom Looks 27! Davis, Elizabeth (McGregor) Davis, has an obit in a Brethren magazine. Wayne Webb let me have access to an article on the expansion of the Germantown Church of the Brethren, and the article mentioned that Mrs. Davis was very regretful that she wasn't going to be able to live long enough to see the expansion of the church building take place. Her family was Presbyterian but, by this time, she may not have been. She died 16 Sep 1896 in San Francisco, CA. Thanks. I am interested in doing comparisons between one year and another. For instance, the expansion of the Germantown Church of the Brethren was completed for $10,000 but it's probably hard for most people to get a feel for how much that is in 2011 dollars. Can anyone direct me to a good website, book, etc.? Thanks. David Myers ____________________________________________________________ 57 Year Old Mom Looks 27! Another one that goes back only to 1800 is http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ The one that Sherry posted seems to be an expired domain.
