    3. I concur with the sentiment about Gladys Royer. A few years ago she helped me with my distant Brethren relatives who moved to the Goshen area and unfortunately never coordinated our schedules to meet her. I have already referenced her work in some of my research whenever it gets published and added a link to her obituary on my web site to the Goshen News http://www.goshennews.com/obituaries/local_story_066101224.html . Hopefully they will leave her obituary on the internet for eternity, but it is archived on this list. 3. Yes, thanks so much for sharing. I too am saddened to hear of her passing. It only takes a spark to light a genealogical fire, thus was the case for me as I would know little about the early years of the Royer family if Gladys had not shared with me our family connection. 2. Dwayne Wrightsman
    3. Gladys Royer was genealogist, friend, and "cousin" to so many of us. She was always there with her wonderful and well-documented files on many German Baptist Brethren families when one needed help in researching one's own ancestors. She always gave of herself and her own research in a quiet and helpful behind-the-scenes way. I am saddened to hear of her passing and will miss the dialogue we had over the years. Dwayne Wrightsman

    3. Evening Folks, I will shortly be sending out that mass mailing of the above mentioned first issue of 1887 of the Gospel Messenger. A few words to my fellow list members before I do so. The list of recipients is pretty extensive and includes a couple of people who were not able to locate my email address. And sorry to say that I was not able to contact each and every person with acknowledgement of the receipt of their email-there were just too many to respond to. Try emailing roughly fifty to sixty people separately. Since it is a mass mailing I cannot guarantee that everyone will get their copy. Neither can I control whether or not your email provider blocks the email or not-the file is over eight megabyites in size. This is out of my control. So if you receive this email through the Brethren list and do not receive a personal email from me, with the attachment, please contact your provider. It is also impossible for me to assist you in reading the attachment. I use Acrobat because it is cross-platform capable. Even then there will be differences in how it displays on your computer. Every day I pass along PDF files to a circle of contacts and they never have a problem with them so the same should apply to everyone else. Wayne Webb Editor: Brethren Roots

    1. [BRE] to Gale H. Re: Abraham Kensinger III
    2. k. kensinger
    3. Gale- I've been working with tax records for the past few weeks, and found an intriguing entry- in the 1789 tax list for Bedford County (Morrisons Cove) an Abraham GENTSINGER is listed. The most interesting thing about it is that the assessed taxpayers had their ages listed, and Abraham's is given as 30 yrs old. This would mean he was born ca. 1759, and was somewhat older than other sources suggest. It also indicates that he may have left the Salisbury 100 in Maryland, although of course land ownership doesn't necessarily mean residence.
