Hi, Thanks for the discussion on the Pfautz/Pfoutz/Fouts families. I will place 3 generations of this family as I have it. My list may not be complete. As you point out not all information on these families can be true. There were other Pfautz families beside Michael Fouts FZ1 - Brethren Elder- in my list below. Also note that his (FZ1) wife was not "Catherine Schaech" -- see notes. I don't have a Barbara Fouts married to Jacob Stutzman. If she was a Pfautz she could have been a descendant of FZ2 or FZ3 for whom I have no children in my file because I was tracing only Neff descendants. Note also that FZ, FZ1 and FZ12 are all named Michael and I suspect FZ2 and FZ5 might also have had sons named Michael because their father was named Michael. By sharing information we might be able to sort these all out. The Descendants of Michael Pfoutz/Pfautz Family ByJ john F. Don Bowman - or anyone I am working on my Kentucky Churches - and need some family informations. I have received considerable information on the several generations of the Pfautz/Fouts family, but it does not include much on Elder Michael Pfautz and Barbara Crumpack - of the Pipe Creek Church MD I would like to have family sheet informations on the Elder Michael Pfautz - and on his children (info received from Roland Brown -saying that there were 5 children -indicating information was from Don Bowman) I have that Barbara Fouts, daughter of Elder Michael, married in 1753 to Jacob Stutzman - at Uhwarrie in North Carolina - this cannot be true - since Michael Pfautz and Barbara Crumpacker were married about that same time. - I suspect that this Barbara might have been a sister of Elder Michael. But information on his father, Johann Michael Pfautz, does not include a daughter, Barbara. His grandfather, Michael Pfautz, does have a daughter, Barbara - so the name is in the family. That Michael (wife: Ursula Muhlenhauser) had sons: Jacob and John. I do not have information on them - it could be possible that the Barbara Fouts who married Jacob Stutzman was daughter to one of them. Roger Sappington, in Brethren in the Carolinas, on the Uhwarry/Ewarry Congregation, says that September 1, 1764, Jacob Stutzman purchased 230 Acres. That in the same general area were David Fouts, Jacob Fouts, John Fouts, Michael Fouts, and Andrew Hoover. My Fouts information indicates that Andrew/Andreas Hoover had married Catherine Pfautz, daughter of Johann Michael Pfautz/Catherine Slough - or a sister of Elder Michael Pfautz (but as I said above - there is no Barbara named as a sister of this Catherine). Nor does this family include a David Fouts, and its Jacob and John Fouts died in Pennsylvania (Westmoreland Co and Lancaster Co) Merle C Rummel
Hi Merle, Just read your e-mail about needing info ref. people I cannot help you with. However, I think this may mean something to you. I have just cleared - page-by-page - of the last file binder of my husband's which he had labeled: "Census Records." This contained, not only hand-written census records from microfilm on STUMP. but literally jillions of what he must have considered "collateral" family names. Only thing that may interest you was a pencilled note "History of HAZELCREEK Baptist Church" and a film number -- 0156901 item 2. I'm guessing this is something from the Salt Lake City Library, but nothing else identifying except it was stuck to a census record on Muhlenberg County KY. I seem to remember some of the messages mentioned some Brethren had sort of moved over to Baptist churches in some places. Did you receive the package of snail mail I sent sometime back? Best ever, Liz Stump
I've had to make two significant revisions on my approximated birth dates for the children of Henry (Barbara & Susannah), which caused a few other minor revisions. I knew all the previously approximated dates of birth for Barbara were off by probably 6 years, it is now clear they were off by about 15 years. Following are the dates of birth for Henry's children (I have included an abstract of what I originally posted). Henry Rhoads & Katherina (Rheinhardt?) 1. Henry Rhoads, b. 05 Jun 1739, PA. 2. Catherine Rhoads, b. abt. 1741, PA. 3. Susannah Rhoads, b. abt. 1743, PA. 4. Gabriel Rhoads, b. 15 Jun 1744, PA. 5. Johannes Rhoads, b. 08 Feb 1746/47, Prince George Co, MD. 6. Jacob Rhoads, b. abt. 1748, Frederick Co, MD. 7. Barbara Rhoads, b. abt. 1750, Frederick Co, MD, d. bef. 1800. 8. Joseph Rhoads, b. 1753, Frederick Co, MD. 9. Daniel Rhoads, b. 05 Oct 1755, Frederick Co, MD. My principle error was failing to complete the outline for Barbara's family before I started to work on the dates of birth. Once I had done that it was clear Barbara could not have been born in 1741, much less 1735. The children of Susannah remain the one mystery and I suspect will be found in Ohio. Would all those that directly descend from the Zerbe Family please email me off of these lists (Darke County, Ohio; Miami County, Ohio; and Brethren Listserv's). This is only for descendant of them, but if you know somebody else related to that line and has email, have them email me. Thanks. Some of you may know the source of info for them. Also- those that descend from Nicholas Hittle and wife Eva Boyer (her mother was a Zerbe)- Nicholas and Peggy's daughter Rebecca married Abraham Welbaum. There apparently was a John Hendricks who married a Mary Perkins and this John Hendricks is said to have had a son William. Perhaps this is your John Hendricks. There was more than one John Hendricks, but they might have been related. He was in Scottville, IL (as Dwayne mentioned) in 1840, and he also died moving with the family to Iowa on 6 Nov 1846. He is buried alongside William Hendricks in Hoover Cemetery in Franklin Township, Lee County, Iowa. Christina (or possibly Anna Christena) Coonrad (or Conrad or Conradt) was born about 1767 in NC. She married Samuel Sears about 1789 in Kentucky. Her father may have been Adam Conradt (though I have no proof--this has just been passed to me from my parents, but don't know where they might have found this), but I don't have any information about her mother. She appears to have stayed in Lee County, Iowa, with what I'm guessing is her son, Jacob, for a while (she is with him in the 1850 census in Lee County). In the 1856 Iowa State Census, she is with Daniel (another son?) and Elizabeth (Betty Martin?) Sears in Cedar, Jefferson County, Iowa. She died 7 Mar 1857 in Decatur County, Iowa, and is buried at the Dunkard Cemetery in Center Township there. Could you point me to something showing Samuel's relationship to his parents? I would love to have a copy of something to keep in my files. Thanks for your work, and the connections it makes for us all. Scott
This account is about Hans (X) Zorr and Peter Hähn who immigrated to Pennsylvania on the Ship Brotherhood on 3 November 1750. Let me say at the outset that I am not saying that Hans (X) Zorr was Johannes Zaher (John Sears) or that Petter Hähn was Peter Hon, but I am suggesting the possibility. Johannes Zaher immigrated with his oldest son Christian (born ca1742) who according to his descendants remembered being a child in the old country. If the immigration was in 1750, Christian would have been old enough to remember his childhood in the old country. Some say that the second son John Sears Jr. was born in the new world in 1749, but Pamela Stage thinks he might have been born a year or two later than that. If I am not mistaken Jonas Hon, whose history intertwines with that of the Sears Family, was born about 1740. His father is said by some to have been a Peter Hon who immigrated from Germany. If this Peter Hon was the Petter Hähn who immigrated on the Ship Brotherhood in 1750, then perhaps Jonas Hon was on this ship when he was age 10. I am suggesting that Christian Sears (b abt1742) and Jonas Hon (b abt1740) may have been shipmates with their fathers on the 1750 Ship Brotherhood. Since I am not familiar with the Hon family, perhaps someone on this site who knows if Jonas Hon's father was named Peter and if Jonas Hon was born in the old country can support my hypothesis. Alternatively, perhaps someone has evidence to refute it. Elder Peter Hon - of the Hinkston Creek Church, Nicholas Co KY was the son of Jonas Hon and Mary Rowland Keithley on Jonas Hon from the Sears family - Johannes Zaher (immigrant) married as second wife: Barbara (Miller) Hon ("Widow Hon") her first husband was John Hahn, son of Peter Hahn (immigrant - came aboard same ship as Johannes Zaher) but the family genealogists - descendents in the Hon family (Daniel, brother of Elder Peter) and others - - - (all sources that I saw) say that Jonas Hon who married Mary Rowland Keithley was the son of Peter Keithley Hon and Matilda Shultz Can anyone resolve this conflict for me? Also - I need information about the family of Elder Peter Hon (His name was Peter Keithley Hon) I also found that his older brother Jacob - was disowned in the will of his father - and went in 1812 to White Co WVa - does anyone know anything about this? (information about a Union Church - used by the Dunkards there!) Merle C Rummel
I have a scan of a photo of Chancy & Imy Ball. The photo was in a collection of photos once belonging to my great grandmother, Ida (Forney) Puterbaugh. I don't know anything else about the Ball family (I can't find a family connection) but I may have found a few clues from various censuses. I believe they were both born In Iowa and Chancy's family moved to Towner Co., N.D. where they lived by Aaron & Ida Puterbaugh and Uriah Forney (Ida's brother). All three families are on the same page of the 1900 census. By 1910, Chancy was back in Colfax, Boone Co., Iowa and married to Imy. The Forneys and Puterbaughs attended the COB in Egeland, Towner Co., ND. The Ball family may have attended there too. If anyone wants a copy of the scan, let me know. Dale Ratcliffe
I came across this biography of Peter Hon sometime ago while searching for my own "Restoration Movement" preacher ancestor, Jacob Coons. The site includes a picture of Mr. Hon and a photo of his tombstone. The same Peter Hon, I presume? http://www.therestorationmovement.com/hon.htm -----Original Message----- From: brethren-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:brethren-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Merle C Rummel Sent: Monday, March 31, 2008 7:21 PM To: brethren@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRE] Hahn Hon question Elder Peter Hon - of the Hinkston Creek Church, Nicholas Co KY was the son of Jonas Hon and Mary Rowland Keithley.
