Dear cousins, The latest "Genealogical Helper" is advertising the book [ in 3 volumes], "Men of Bern: The 1798 Burgerverzeichnisse of Canton Bern, Switzerland". This was a list [with much personal data] of all men between the ages of 20-70, who were required to sign a loyalty oath in Bern. I mention this because among the list of names found on the index of those who signed, were: Allamand, Alleman, Allemann, Allemang, Allimann, Allmann, Allmen. The date of this list is of course too late to directly connect to our Thomas Alleman, grandfather of Mary Parr Breedlove, wife of Charles Breedlove, but it suggests a possible origin for our Thomas Alleman. I don't think I've ever seen or read any discussion of this before. Could he have been Swiss? Marilyn Owen
