    3. Dear Cousins, I want to jump in here with my opinion about my ancestor Thomas Breedlove's service in the Revolutionary War. I believe that the DAR was WRONG that this Thomas was a soldier in the Revolution. We're not quite sure when this Thomas [who married Sarah Broaddus] was born, but it was c. 1728, which would have made him nearly age 50 at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. I think the Thomas Breedlove who served in the Revolution was the SON of Thomas & Sarah Broaddus Breedlove--Thomas Jr.'s wife was also named, Sarah. Another son of the elder Thomas was my ancestor William Breedlove, who served in the Revolution. I have his pension application made in Simpson Co., KY. His wife was Mary Watts. Thomas Sr. was the head of a large family in Albemarle Co. when the war began. The Albemarle Court records show that Thomas gave supplies for the Revolutionary Cause. But I think [because of his age] that he left the actual fighting in that war to his sons. Marilyn Owen
