It is wonderful to have such organized Breedlove researchers..I wish all of my lines had a group like you guys. To Bill & Jan-for years I had the book History of the Cherokees by Emmett Starr-last year I sold most of my 30 yr collection of genealogy books-a woman in TX bought that one. It had a nice picture of your ancestor Carrie Bruton Breedlove. >From memory I thought the Spencer of Green Co Mo who was father of John w. Breedlove who married Carrie Bruton was killed in the Civil War..have some info on him in a booklet which isnt available at the moment.. Tom King--Thank you for the info re Naither...his descendant Jewell Breedlove either wrote Nathan in 1970 or I copied it wrong. I checked my Atlas (it is an old one) and cannot find Georgetown, CA listed--and the message did mean that it was James who told them his grmother was Indian. It has never been my opinion that my Breedlove's had Indian blood.Martin Breedlove and Elizabeth Carr were my ancestors. But-I do think my Lowery's were part Indian -have just never been able to find the connection or prove it..In Starr's book there was also a picture of Major George Lowery, he wore an ear ring and had a bandana around his head..lots of interesting things written about him. Thanks to all of you for your help, it is nice to have cousins like you. Ellen Byrne, dande@mail.tds.net
