This Caroline Walton Bruton b. Feb 05, 1858, m. 1875, d. Dec 1933 was my greatgrandmother. She was the dau of Caswell Wright Bruton and Jane Elizabeth Chisholm. Jane Chisholm was the dau of Thomas Chisholm, an elected 3d chief of the Western Cherokees, Oklahoma Indian Territory, on July 16, 1834. The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma credits Caroline (Carrie) as being 1/4 Cherokee because they compute Thomas Chisholm as being full blood. My Chisholm research indicates Thomas was 1/2 blood at best, probably only 1/8 if the account of Narcissa Chisholm (sister of Jane) is accurate.
