Frieda, YOU SAID: I am looking for the Breedlove that may have Indian Blood. Amerson and McDonald are the families I am working with. They are known to be in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. We feel that we are connected with the Breedloves in some way. Some of the Family have Breedlove as their second name. We have a John G Amerson that Married Nancy Breeding in the 1850's They are shown on the 1860 census in Marion, Alabama. They have two young boys one John Breedlove Amerson and Benjamin G Amerson. In 1865 both boys are under the guardianship of Amos Young Amerson brother of John G Amerson and mother Elizabeth McDonald Amerson. Elizabeth is 1/2 Cherokee. The Amersons are known to be in many counties in NORTHERN ALABAMA The Breedloves may also be connected with the Byers and the Baker families in Alabama and Arkansas. Appreciate any help Frieda Glenn Bennett FJGB@aol.com =========================== I actually have more questions than answers. I have an ancestor, Cindarilla (Sindarilla/Cinderella) Breedlove who married Thomas Lowry. Her father was Martin Breedlove. Ellen Byrne, another member of the list, and I are distant cousins and share this same ancestor and has found no evidence of native American heritage. However, one of Cindarilla's children, Sarah Lowry, married a fellow by the name of Mullicane, and the family lore goes that "the Mullicane married an Indian woman." So, either Thomas was Indian or Cindarilla was Indian (or both were). We recently ran across some evidence that is pointing to Thomas possibly being part Cherokee (a Scottish trader named Lowry is a possible candidate for his father). However, would Cindarilla have married an Indian unless she had Indian blood herself? There is also the fact that on Cherokee lands, the name Breedlove is considered to be Indian (a native American from Tehachapi told me that). Sorry that I can't be of more help. Carole
