    1. Re: [BREEDLOVE-L] James and Lucretia Breedlove Family Scenario
    2. Dear Bill, I have a few thoughts on the James and Lucretia scenario. I don't know how helpful they are, but. . . The Lucy Watkins could be William Watkins' granddaughter, Lucy, the daughter William and Mary Osborne Watkins. Lucy married Col. Thomas Spencer on 5 Apr 1781, just days after the will was written. Robert Breedlove first appears on a Lunenburg County, VA Tithe List with James Breedlove in 1751. If a male is tithable when he is 16, this would mean that Robert was born in about 1735. It would also mean that Robert was 29 in 1764 when James died. I have never understood why he was not mentioned in any way when his father's estate was settled. Why was James' estate settled in Essex County when he lived in Lunenburg County? Is it really the same James? Another thought about Robert, in the 1790 Charlotte County VA Census, he is listed as having 3 white people and 6 black people living in his house. If he had no wife and that is a good assumption, who were the 3 white people? Sally Almond mentioned in Robert's will may be of the Alleman family and a distant cousin. I thought Charles and Spencer were probably children of James, Jr. and brothers of Sina, Elizabeth and Kindness. Is there any proof of any of this? Martha
