William Jackson took his family to Louisiana approximately November 1869. They are listed in the 1870 census of Jackson Parish. The oldest daughter, Henrietta, was already married at that time, and did not accompany the family. Oral history states that after Laura's death, William Jackson returned to Alabama with his children. His oldest son Elbert Wilkins, was married there 14 Jan 1875, making 1874 an educated guess as to Laura's death date. William Jackson married second Mrs. Elizabeth J. Jenks, 23 Aug 1877, Talledega County, Ala. No issue from this second marriage. Ellen Byrne also posted info on this family on December 1.
