My mother and her siblings also had dark coloring and high cheekbones. My mothers eyes were grey, but she had black hair and dark skin. This was attributed by some to be Indian heritage. My mother always denied it, but her brothers did not. In school they were called half-breeds and picked upon. Perhaps this is why my mother only claimed to be Scotch and Irish. She claimed the coloring came from the Irish side. I have not been able to find it on the Breedlove side as yet, although my Breedlove ggrandfather David Anderson's first wife, Mary Ann, was supposed to have been Cherokee. An elderly cousin told me that David Anderson Breedlove (according to her mother) was supposed to have been at least 1/4 Cherokee. Linda
