I think we need to congratulate and thank Marilyn Owen for her recent work at the Salt Lake City Family History Center. Hope Perry Breedlove on Page 16 of his book referenced a "Charlotte County Court Order Package #10, p.111 of 1715." Marilyn was succesful in finding a "Court Order Book 10, p.111," BUT DATED 1795 This is a "find" as far as I am concerned, and I think this becomes a very important document for several reasons. ONE. This appears to be correcting an error of Hope's reference to the date of "1715", although Hope does refer to a "Charlotte Co, VA 1795 Court Record" further down on Page 16 of his book. . (Charlotte Co, VA was formed from Lunenburg Co, VA in 1764) TWO. Hope continues his discussion of "Kindness (Breedlove?) Shorter", the Kindness confusion in general, and a possible connection to a James Breedlove (wife Mary) on pp 16-17. Marilyn's document dated Nov 03, 1795 mentions TWO Kindnesses in the same legal action. Kindness Breedlove, deceased and Kindness (Breedlove) Stembridge, one of the plaintiffs. THREE. The James Breedlove, deceased, apparently died about 1791 after which date he does not show up in tax records. A 1797 land record also refers to him along with his children and mentions him as deceased. Robert Breedlove died in 1792. The filling against the estate of Robert Breedlove by James Shorter, "son and heir of Kindness Breedlove", and by Elizabeth (Breedlove) Sammons, Sina (Breedlove) Shelton, and Kindness (Breedlove) Stembridge, daughters of James (wife Mary) Breedlove, deceased, is a strong suggestion that Kindness (Breedlove) Shorter, James, and Robert were siblings. FOUR. Other documents link Robert Breedlove and Kindness Shorter. They are both witness to a John Smithson will dated Apr 06, 1760 in Lunenburg Co, VA Will Bk 1, p.336. Lunenburg Co, Va Order Bk 3, p. 189 names Kindness Breedlove, "relict of John Shorter." Order Bk 2 1/2-B. p. 194 names James Shorter, "orphan of John Shorter". James and Robert Breedlove are associated in Lunenburg Co records 1751-1791. Robert refers to Sina as his "niece Sine Breedlove" in his will of Dec 22, 1791. I think this is powerfull stuff.
