There is a story about Reuben Bolles that when the war ended, Reuben took down the flag, folded it and handed it to the widow of a confederate soldier. Did you read the message from Bob Brown re Elizabeth Lowery - Cherokee Indian-gr dau of Cinderilla Breedlove? Have corresponded with Bob before- there are several of us who think our Lowery's were part Indian- but no proof. Our Lowery's were from NC--but they were in warren co Ky by 1810, of course there were Indians in Warren Co. and also Wayne Co Ky, etc. They didn t all go on the Trail of Tears. In fact one of the Laclede Co people-cant remember which one now a Jolly or one that married into the Bolles line--marched thru Laclede Co on the Trail of Tears as a soldier--and went back later and settled there. I was born in OK-lived most of my life in California but now in Idaho and this is the nez perce reservation..The Nez Perce town is Lapwai...the schools in Lapwai do not celebrate Columbus Day--and cant remember but the Indians in OK-probably dont think too much of Andrew Jackson.
