Hello! I am new to the list, and new to family research and geneology, (whew! :-) and so happy to have found you all. I wonder if any of you could help me find information on my great grandfather: Caleb Ellis(sp?) Breedlove. I've read all your back lists, and other lists, but haven't seen his name at all. I know very little about him other than I believe he was Indian (part?) Cherokee?, but his name does not show up on any role we have seen. He married Sarah (Dillard?)(perhaps in Oklahoma - 1870 or so. Sarah and Caleb had three children, my grandmother - Mary Alice (nickname Molly), Ola, and another child, I think his name was Frank. I think that Mary Alice was probably taught on a Cherokee reservation in Oklahoma - From oral family history, we were told that she became the first female school teacher to teach at a school there. I suspect she taught right around the turn of the century, but we have no records of it. Mary Alice was born about 1880 - off the reservation. We can't find a birth record for her either. I understand that her mother, Sarah Dillard and her family were part of those who walked the trail of tears. We are told that her picture is inside of a small church in or around the reservation. Apparently, some part of this church was carried on the trail. In the early 1900's, Caleb brought his family from Oklahoma to Pueblo, Colorado, where he worked for the City of Pueblo in maintenance. Now that I've read all your posts, I'm interested to see how he fits into all the Breedlove clan. I appreciate so much any help you can give us. Thank you, Gloria ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com
