    3. Cavaliers and Pioneers, Abstracts of VA Land Patents and Grants, by Nell Marion Nugent, Vol. II, 1666-1695, VA State Library, Richmond, 1977. No entries for Herndon other than one entry for Edward Herndon but a suspiciously familiar one for Edward Hernton that ties in a Mrs. Mary Waller (our Edward Herndon m Mary Waller. He was the s/o William Herndon and Catherine Diggs and she was the d/o John Waller and Mary Pomfrett. Edward and Mary Herndon's dau, Martha, m William Watkins). There were no entries for Breedlove (I tried to guess at all spellings - Breadlove, Broadlove, Bradlove, etc.). For Vol. III: P. 312: Transfer of a number of parcels of land to John Baylor, son of John Baylor, Gent., dec'd, of K&Q Co . . . . . . 3360 acs. (N.L.), K&Q Co, in Drysdale Par; on N. side of Mattapony River . . . 6 Jul 1726, p 500, Adj. Samuel Chapman; on an old line of Col. Peter Beverley, but now the line of Chapman, Bullard, & HERNDON; adj. Edward HERNDON; & Mr. Richard Buckner; 17 Lbs., Money. P 325: Edward HERNTON, of K&Q Co; 400 acs. (N.L.), Spotsyl. Co: adj. Mrs. Mary Waller & Capt. Larkin Chew; 16 Jun 1727, p 91. (Could this be Edward Herndon's mother in law? My records indicate she passed away sometime prior to 1732.) In Vol. IV (1732-1741) a David and Edward Jr. Herndon appear but no Breedloves. Vol. V (1741-1749) - Edward and Edward Jr. Herndon names but no Breedloves. Vol. VI (1749-1762) - The first Breedloves appear : James and Joseph Breadlove and Robert Breedlove. The earliest of these: p 74: Joseph BREADLOVE, 400 acs., Lunenburgh Co. On the Head of the Middle Fork of Meherrin Riv.; 23 Mar 1752, p 85. 2 Lbs. James and John Herndon or Herrendon also appear in this volume. Vol. VII (1762-1776) - James BREADLOVE and James and Robert BREEDLOVE. Also there is a William Heardin and a James Hearn but no Herndons. These grants may be viewable in the VA Archives Land Grands Digital section if anyone has the patience to find them and download. For the heck of it, I also checked The Vestry Book and Register of St. Peter's Parish in New Kent and James City Counties, VA, 1706-1786 and Vestry Book of Blisland Parish, New Kent and James City Counties, VA 1721-1786 for the Breedlove and Herndon names. Nothing. Also Vestry Book of Stratton Major Parish, King and Queen Co, VA, 1729-1783. Also nothing.
