Since William Herndon, ancestor of the line that eventually married into the Watkins and Breedlove lines, was the first by that surname in America, this bears some further digging. He received 430 acres and 64 acres for transporting ten people by himself and another 1800 acres and 1000 acres for transporting another 56 people in conjunction with Robert Bagby. Don't have the dates in front of me but some of this was before 1673, long before we think Charles Breedlove was born. The land was in New Kent CO (now King & Queen) which is not that far from Essex Co. The land patents are all of record but I have not dug into the actual court orders to see if they mention the names of those he transported. There's no telling at what age Charles Breedlove did come over (that is if he really did emigrate and wasn't born here) but it would have had to be between 1690 and 1708. Does anyone have the Court Orders or copies of the original patents for William Herndon that give the names of those he transported? Tom King
