In History of Greene County, Missouri 1883, editing Historian R.I. Holcombe, Chapter 27, Taylor Township is a paragraph that describes the death of a Miss Breedlove, dau of John Breedlove. "In April, 1856, a young lady, the daughter of John Breedlove, was drowned in the James, near the Baughman ford. Miss Breedlove and a younger companion were crossing the stream on a foot-log. The latter fell into the water and pulled Miss Breedlove after her. Singularly enough, the younger girl was washed ashore and saved, while Miss Breedlove was drowned. The alarm was given and her body was recovered and brought ashore while still warm, but life was extinct, and all efforts at resuscitation failed. Miss Breedlove was about 18 years of age." This would have put her birthdate at around 1838. Who could this person be? I have a John Breedlove from Simpson/Warren, KY who married Cassandra (Casander) Mitchell in 1834 in Warren, KY. This pair could have gone to MO with their family, I suppose. But, I have no information on them after their marriage. Does anyone have any ideas about this young Breedlove? Hi. I have a John Breedlove born 1813 in Caswell County, NC, who died May 14, 1887, Greene County Missouri, who married Sarah Ann Breedlove, born 1822 and died about 1847 in Greene County, Missouri. John was son of James R. Breedlove and Nancy Simmons. John and Sarah Ann Breedlove had 4 children: Emarillis b. 1839 Greene County, Missouri, died April 1858, Greene County, Missouri; Nancy b. 1841 Charles W. b. 1843 and died Jan. 3, 1864 and Ransom Drayton Breedlove b. 1845 and married Mary Frances Raymond (b. 12-10-1847) Perhaps Emarillis is the person to whom your historian is referring. Adrienne Taylor, NYC descendant of Myra Breedlove, through Charles and Sally Fletcher's line. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Genealogy Research Mail" <genealogyresearch@prodigy.net> To: <BREEDLOVE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 30, 2000 8:46 PM Subject: [BREEDLOVE-L] Death 1856 Dau of John Breedlove in Taylor Township, Greene County, MO > In History of Greene County, Missouri 1883, editing Historian R.I.
