    3. Hi Marilyn-today I am 74-how long have we corresponded? Quite a while..anyway this is my question. You mentioned you were putting your notes on the computer. In what form? FTM or what? I started some on the FTM and lost them, didnt back them up-but have started again-it wasnt many. What I have done is just take all the loose papers, still have a box or two, and type the notes under various surnames-then the ones that arent indexed are rather hard to find a specific item. You are so well organized, would like to know how you are doing it. thanks-Ellen

    1. [BREEDLOVE-L] "2nd generation"
    2. Marilyn A. Owen
    3. Dear Bill Breedlove & others, If by "2nd generation", you mean children of Charles & Mary Parr Breedlove, I believe you'll find that all of those sons were too old to have served in the Revolution. Charles & Mary were having their children from about 1715--1735. Many of their GRANDSONS served in the Revolution, though. Charles & Mary Parr Breedlove, apparently DID have a son, Charles, but whether he was the one who married Sally Fletcher, I don't know. One source I've seen says that the Charles who married Sally Fletcher was a son of James, and a grandson of Charles & Mary. A Charles Breedlove was mentioned as living upon the land belonging to Mary Trible, when that lady wrote her will in Essex Co., VA in 1765. It's possible that Mary Trible was actually Mary Parr Breedlove, who married a Trible, after the death of her husband Charles Breedlove, whose estate was inventoried in Essex Co. in 1758. Spencer died after the war. Charles Breedlove m. Sally Fletcher. , etc Where does the wisdom of the List participants place these two brothers in Generation #2 these days? Did I doze off? He married Eve Shanks and Barbara Shanks. He had a son by the name of Martin and a grandson by the name of Martin. His family was living in Washington County, Indiana in 1850. He married in 1793 in Shenandoah, Va. and died in March 1849 in Indiana. Isaac's son, Martin (b-1794) is the one that I believe married Lucinda Harvey in 1832. If this is correct, is he the one that was murdered in MO.? Charlie, to my knowledge, Isaac Sr did not have a son named Martin. He had a son named Isaac Jr who married Sarah Miller in 1819 in Boutetourt Co., VA. This son Isaac had a son Martin born in 1822 who married Margaret Anderson. Isaac Sr's family lived in the Shenandoah area over the mountains and a long way from Orange County where Broaddus Breedlove and his son Martin lived and married before moving to Boone Co., MO. Do you have a list of Isaac Sr's children by each of his wives? I show a son named George attributed to both wives which may or may not be right. Though I cannot find any connection for this Isaac to the main body of the Breedlove family, I feel he is closely connected to both George Breedlove who married Jensy Joyce and to Berreman Breedlove who married Matilda Joyce. Isaac, George and Berreman were all born in Culpeper Co., VA and ended up in southern Indiana, and were propably brothers. What is your source for Isaac having a son named Martin? Tom King

    3. Thank you, Kris, for your response. Thank you, too, for sending usch a full amount of information. I agree with what Marilyn Owen wrote today - that the evidence indicates Broadus Breedlove was the son of Thomas rather than his brother Madison. I have seen Thomas' will, in which he names Broadus as one of his children, but until Marilyn posted it I had not seen the information from the court records naming Madison's children. What you posted from more recent generations certainly adds to what I had, and perhaps it has helped others in a similar way. Thank you! I don't believe I ever said that Martin had a son Martin. I just checked back through 240 archive Breedlove messages and another 385 that I haven't archived and the only comments I've made about Martin is that I do not believe he is the one that died in Boone County, Missouri. That was referring to Martin Breedlove who married Elizabeth Carr. The Martin son of Thomas & Sarah Broaddus Breedlove, must have died sometime after 1840 in Simpson County, KY where the records were destroyed in a fire in 1884. The Martin who died in Boone County, MO is the son of Broaddus Breedlove. Martin may have had a son Martin but I rather doubt it. The messages that had that came from Carole. My belief is that Martin had two other sons MILTON and Nathan (Nathan is listed in everyone's list) that are living close to each other on the Wright Co., MO 1850 census, the 1860 Linn CO., KS census and the 1870 Ozark Co., MO census. Milton was born 17 Mar 1814 in KY and married Margaret Ann Roper, Nathan was born 1817 KY and married Druscilla Smith in 1846 in Lawrence Co., MO. Tom

    3. Dear Kris Ball, I'm afraid you've chosen the wrong father for your Broadus Breedlove. Madison Breedlove died in 1810 in Albemarle Co., VA. A court record there dated, 3 September 1810, shows that Wm. Smith was made guardian of Madison's minor children, listed as Absolom W., Polly, Aylett & Jane Breedlove. Thomas Breedlove [of Orange Co., VA], brother of Madison, left an Orange Co., VA will proved 25 April 1807, naming wife Sarah & children John, Thomas, Mary, Caty, Nathan, BROADUS, Sarah & Edward.
