There have been several mesages on LA Breedlove's. Ran across this in some of my notes. >From the Louisiana Historical Quarterly, vol 6, no 2, Apr 1923. title-Andrew Jackson's correspondence with James w. Breedlove: It is a well known fact that the interest of Jackson in New Orleans not limited to the battle, 1815. he paid the city visits, 1828 and 1840. From about 1830-40, james W. Breedlove, the banker, attended to his affairs. james Waller Breedlove son of Albert Buckner Breedlove b Albemarle Co Va ca 1790 after serving inWar of 1812, Colonel, to TN, near Nashville. In Nashville he m Maria, dau of Gen James Winchester, she b TN 1793, d on the shores of the Bay of Biloxi, 1848. In the 1820s Breedlove left his wife and little family with relatives in TN, made the difficult trip down the Mississippi to New Orelans, prospered exceedingly, then sent for his family. He became Pres of the Bank, retained this position till the Bank went out of existence. appointed as Collector-ship of the Port of New Orelans, till 1839. In 1841 was spoken of by the New Orelans newspaper as a leader of a political party in LA, also had contracts for transporting mail between New Orleans and Mobile, he paid $100,000 per year for franchise. In 1854 nominated for Mayor of New Orelans against John L. Lewis, defeated, He died Jan 1868, buried Girod St. Cemetery beside his first wife. After her death 1848, he married again. Mrs. Breedlove died while she and her husband were in Europe on a visit to Parish, she had no ch. Of 7 ch by his 1st wife, 4 lived to maturity, married and had descendants who reside in LA, TX, Indian Territory, etc. the letters passed at the death of Breedlove to his dau, Urilda, then widow of Isaac Weightman Smith, atty in New Orelans. Mrs. Smith d 1904, left papers with her dau, Mrs. John E. Redd, then one of her ch, Mrs. John S. Kendall, present owner. My grmother's cousin A.J. From a handwritten copy of James Waller's will and from Bible records from LDS microfilm, I note the following differences and simply list them for your scrutiny: There is no Publicola Breedlove in the Bible records. James Waller's will names five children (or their family) to receive his inheritance: Wilda Smith(Urilda), Opelia Hardy (Ophelia), Napoleon B., James Winchester, and the children of Julien Poydras (James, Andrew Jackson, and Mara E.). Calantha and Malvina died as children. James Waller Breedlove supported Jackson in 1832 and was appointed Collector of Customs, Port of New Orleans and served until 1839. 4. Many letters between Andrew Jackson and James Waller Breedlove 5. James Waller Breedlove was an unsuccessful candidate for mayor of New Orleans in 1854. 6. Julien Poydras died in New Orleans on Aug 12, 1848 from disease contracted in the Army as a Captain while serving in Mexico. And a personal connection from my research of the Chisholm family: Emily Walker Wilson who married Napoleon Bonaparte Breedlove was the daughter of Judge William Wilson and Malinda Wharton Chisholm. Malinda Wharton(d. Feb 19, 1864, age 60 yrs) was first married to Thomas Chisholm (d. Nov 12, 1834) a third chief of the Western Cherokees (father John D.
