Hello, I am looking for info. on Mary and William Breedlove. My fiance's aunt is 89 years old and would love to see some info. on her Mother's side of the family!!!!!! Not much is known, but here's what I do have from her. William Breedlove married Mary ? They had the following children: Lydia Ann (who married Edward P. Whited) "Ginny" "Maggie" "Toy" "Belle" and one son who went by "Bud" There may have been more daughters----this is all the aunts and uncles she can remember. She does remember that her mother Lydia died in 1968, possibly in July. Lydia Breedlove Whited is buried on the Whited Family farm in Russell County Va with her husband and his parents. I have been to her grave. I was told that one of the Breedlove sisters married a Perkins. One of them "told fortunes" for fun, possibly Ginny. Mary Breedlove (mother) was a midwife. Can anyone out there help me? I have done research on the Whited side of the family and would love to provide info. for Aunt Mary----her health isn't the greatest, so time is important! Thanks in advance! Lisa
There is a Jordan Breedlove on 1845 Coffee co AL, land record.

Just passing down info., Thats what its all about, I don't think they would have any reason to lie about religion. As far as I know my Jordon Breedlove was never in LA. Nor was he in the west, Our Breedlove's lived in TN and GA. Not at all. Even if you have definite proof of a marriage date that falls after the date of birth of a child that only means the parents solemnized their vows officially later. It could be that they were travelling and were married by some itinerant minister who never recorded the marriages anywhere, or it could be an informal marriage where there were no preachers available and they decided to be married in the eyes of themselves and their travelling companions or neighbors. We had a full page story in todays newspaper about a woman whose 1st husband went off to fight in the Texas revolution and never came back so she took up with another soldier, bore him children and lived as his wife for seven years before he died. There was a long court battle over his property as they were never officially married. This became the basis for the Common Law Marriage statutes here in Texas. This is this first time I have heard of Breedlove's that were Mormon. I would rather doubt it as Louisiana never had any Mormon settlements or gatherings there. Perhaps these Breedlove's moved out West and became Mormon out there. Tom --WebTV-Mail-1288389547-2152--

My uncle ,Charles Breedlove told me on Thanksgiving day , his Granfather Jordon (jerd) Pinkerton Breedlove b.May, 1882 , said thier Breedlove ancestors were of the Mormon faith. Would this explain the children born out of wed-lock?

My thanks to all for the many notes of condolances on the death of my father. Though his house and all his papers burned while he was hospitalized, I learned a lot about him from those at the funeral. He and my mother were divorced when I was 3-4 years old and he visited often until I was six and my mother remarried. Then I didnt see or hear from him again until I was 20. He took me to a King Family Reunion then and I met over 150 relatives that I never knew existed. I started putting little family group sheets together so I could figure out how I was related to all those people, which was my start in genealogy. Little did I realize 35 years ago that this would turn into a lifetime addiction. Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. Tom
First, may I apolgize to the Breedlove list. My brain was not working and I mistakenly sent my personal meessage to the list instead of to Tom King. However, I do wish to give my heart-felt thanks to the beautiful people who wrote me. Larry
To Steve & Patty; Joe & Laura et al Mary Parr was born BY 1695, as proven by a deed from her grandfather Thomas Allaman that year, which mentions her. She was probably an infant at that time. I have never seen a definite marriage date for Charles Breedlove & Mary Parr, but have only estimated they were married about 1615, judging by when their children began to appear "of age" in the records. Where, Patty, did you find the marriage date you have [May 02, 1724]? I would also like your source that Charles & Mary had a son, Robert. This is the first I've heard mention of him. He does not appear in the Essex Co., VA records, but neither does my ancestor, Thomas. Charles & Mary DID have a son, William [probably the eldest child as he appears in the records first], whom you omitted in your list of children. Marilyn Owen
OK, HELP! Everything I have shows the Kindness Breedlove that was married to William Stembridge as the daughter of James & Lucretia Breedlove. Also if your marriage date is right for Charles & Mary Breedlove, then either all the kids listed have a different mother or all the dates listed for the kids are wrong. Anyone have any idea what facts are what?
