Tom, I have two questions I hope you can answer after you get to feeling better: 1) You mention having names of 12 of the 13 children of William Breedlove and Mary Watts. I have only 11 - David Watts, Sally, Elizabeth, Thomas, William McKendry, Maria G., Nathan P., Elleader A., Jane J., Ira Meade, and Polly L. Who was the other one that you have? 2) Approximately how many descendants of Thomas Breedlove and Sarah Broaddus do you have in your database? I have about 1100 that various Breedlove researchers have given me, but your note implies that there may be many, many more. Some other Broaddus researchers and I are in the process of putting together as full a list as possible of the descendants of Edward Broaddus (Sarah's grandfather), and as of now we have about 5700. As of today my database of connected Breedlove families including spouses totals 10,000, and I still have one database of 200 to check before I add it to the good line. My problem comes from wanting to publish all of this but the sheer size of the database presents some sizable, and I do mean that literally, problems. In register form at maybe 25 names, dates and places per page, that would mean 400 pages plus another 100 pages for the index. With notes and references that number would grow by at least another 250 pages, so I'm looking at 750 pages. Perhaps I can put the notes in a separate book but that could get confusing looking back and forth between two books. Perhaps I can make two books, one for Thomas & Sarah Broaddus, and the other for James and all of the other children. I am looking for suggestions here. I have investigated several free and pay web sites to publish it all on but the size of the database would warrant about 14 Meg of memory, more than the free ones allow and too costly at the pay sites. My ISP doesn't even have web space for subscribers but what can you expect for only $100 lifetime access. I don't expect any publishing plans to be cast in stone for quite a while as I am still investigating options and am open to suggestions. Rest assured any information that has or will be sent me will be scrubbed before publishing to remove all dates and possibly places for any living descendants, unless I get specific permission. To be as thorough as I can, I may also include some of the lines that have not been proven, as I have several books on my New England families that include a section on Unconnected Lines. As luck would have it, some of my ancestry was in these unconnected parts but the information on the proven lines in the front of the book lead me to data that enabled me to make the connection. I am attaching my list of unconnected Breedlove families, with my opinion as to where some of them may connect. New data and sources are being found every day so to those of you descended from one of these unconnected lines, please continue the search. The 200 name Gedcom for the database I mentioned above I got this week came from a totally new source. It is the line of one daughter of Thomas Murrell and Elizabeth Breedlove, the only daughter of William and Mary Watts Breedlove that I knew nothing about except her marriage. I have searched for 30 years for data on her family and all I could find was a census listing, but this new source showed the parents died and left the one orphan daughter with a sister in law to raise. Having found this new line I still have one more line for William & Mary Watts to trace. Perrin's History of Kentucky says they had 13 children, but to date only 12 are known so there is one more out there somewhere. Everything in the article proves out true EXCEPT the statement that the grandfather came over from Wales. John Wesley's father is Clay Breedlove, born 1834 in Madison Co., IL, son of Henry Breedlove born 1806 in Virginia. Henry is somehow connected to either Milton Breedlove whose family moved to Madison Co., IL after he died in VA in 1828 or to another line I am just now getting data on. In any case, J. Wesley's grandfather Henry is shown on all censuses from 1850 through 1880 as being born in Virginia. Someone here asked about Henry's daughter Druscilla last month. Tom

For those of you who are not members or who are unaware of this service, Ancestry.com is offering a free month of access to ALL of their services and data (they usually have a couple of databases free each month, but this, I gather, is for their entire library of material) - if you haven't checked this site out in the past, now is a good time to do so. I am a member and have found a lot of really good material. I think the URL below will get you to the site. I know I sound like I am advertising but, I assure you, I am NOT getting a penny for this plug! Note: a new database they have just added is AGBI (American Genealogical-Biographical Index) which is published by the library where I volunteer, Godfrey Memorial Library in Middletown, CT. This is an every-name index to about 800 different sources, most of which were never indexed prior to this. AGBI, for the most part, references material or families that lived prior to 1850 and there is a heavier concentration on New England lines than other areas (though they are also covered). This set is nearly 200 volumes and is at most major libraries or Universities in the country. It is now available through Ancestry.com's database and will soon be available on CD Rom to libraries and individuals.
