    3. Marilyn Owen has a great deal of Breedlove knowledge. perhaps she is right. For the past 2 yrs I was State Registrar for the State of Idaho (DAR). My term ended. National does go over the applications very carefully but there are always mistakes. I dont know off hand what year Thomas Sr was born. You join the DAR on the service of a particular ancestor, in my case Henry Flesher (Heinrich Fleischer) and you can do supplemental applications for other ancestors who served in the miltiary, furnished food, served on juries, etc. some people have many of them. I only have Henry Penninger, Johan George Spahr, thomas Carr, Thomas Breedlove. There are probably others. Ellen, dande@mail.tds.net

    3. Dear Cousins, I want to jump in here with my opinion about my ancestor Thomas Breedlove's service in the Revolutionary War. I believe that the DAR was WRONG that this Thomas was a soldier in the Revolution. We're not quite sure when this Thomas [who married Sarah Broaddus] was born, but it was c. 1728, which would have made him nearly age 50 at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. I think the Thomas Breedlove who served in the Revolution was the SON of Thomas & Sarah Broaddus Breedlove--Thomas Jr.'s wife was also named, Sarah. Another son of the elder Thomas was my ancestor William Breedlove, who served in the Revolution. I have his pension application made in Simpson Co., KY. His wife was Mary Watts. Thomas Sr. was the head of a large family in Albemarle Co. when the war began. The Albemarle Court records show that Thomas gave supplies for the Revolutionary Cause. But I think [because of his age] that he left the actual fighting in that war to his sons. Marilyn Owen

This is mine, Ellen Byrne's and several others on the list. I used his service to join the S.A.R. back in 1972. Have a photo of his grave. Just came home from Clayton library with a page listing over 100 Breedlove's who served in the Confederacy. Will take a few days to input the data, then I'll post it to the list. Tom King

    3. Hey Steve, I don't have anymore info that what the index shows. I'd surely take Ellen's advice and write to the DAR, takes $5 and a wait. It took about 4 months to get the application and then I sent another $10 and got everything else that was sent with the application. They sent bible records and all other attached records used to authenicate the application. 3. Due to the loss of my email folders when my hard drive crashed, and failing memory (mine, not the computers), I may not have answered some requests that were sent before April 8th. If I owe anyone any replies, please let me know and give me some idea as to what you were requesting. Rebuilding the database has taken me longer than expected as I was still getting more new information and trying to add it as well as reconstruct what I had lost. I still have piles of data to enter and there is most likely correspondence buried in there somewhere that needs to be mailed. Though I still have not completely finished adding in what I have lost, the Breedlove portion is complete and well backed up, with 12,000 descendants (8000 direct plus 4000 spouses) of Charles & Mary Parr Breedlove. Have to cut this short as my ISP is not threatening to cut off my service for exceeding a newly stated 100 hour per month maximum usage, when it is advertised as "Unlimited". Tom King

    2. I posted this a while back and am reposting this in hopes someone can shed some lights on my Breedlove ancestors. Peggy Breedlove born abt 1814 possibly in Indiana and died 1849 in Indiana. Was married to Samuel Moad 28 Feb 1833 in Orange County, Indiana. Was a mother of Nancy Riley Moad b. 19 April 1837 in Indiana and John Franklin Moad b. 16 May 1839 in Indiana. May have had more children but do not have any other records of the children. I am seeking parents and siblings of Peggy Breedlove...she may have been a Margaret. Any help/replies will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mark D. Jones
