    1. [BREEDLOVE-L] Breedloves and Browns
    2. Carole L. Colquehoun
    3. Bob, I ran a kinship report on the Browns in my database and found the following people. Kinship of Emma Louise Brown Name Relationship with Emma Brown Breedlove, Cindarilla Half 1st cousin 4 times removed [my 3rd ggrandmother] Breedlove, Noah V. 3rd cousin once removed Half 4th cousin once removed Breedlove, Thomas David 2nd cousin twice removed Half 3rd cousin twice removed Brown Wife of the 3rd great-granduncle Brown, Celia Wife of the 1st cousin 3 times removed Wife of the half 2nd cousin 3 times removed Brown, Emma Louise Self Brown, Raymond Wiley Father Brown, Rita Gail Wife of the 4th cousin twice removed Wife of the half 5th cousin twice removed LaBauve, Ervin Branch Husband Strickland, Maud Half 4th cousin once removed [my grandmother] ================================ As you can see, Thomas D. is the 2nd cousin twice removed & half 3rd cousin twice removed of Emma Louise Brown. I also ran a kinship report on Noah and found that Noah and my grandmother were 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins, and half 4th cousins to each other. The kinship report got me laughing, a lot. It sounds like material for that comedian who talks about southerners marrying relatives.. Noah is his own 3rd cousin and his own half 4th cousin. His father is Noah's 2nd cousin once removed, as well as a half 3rd cousin once removed to his own son. 3. Bob, Thanks for your response. I sent the last note off to the whole list because we had been corresponding off the list about this. Sorry that we didn't stay on the list with it all. The Noah V. Breedlove I was referring to is the Son of Thomas David Breedlove and Isabelle Abigail (Abbie) Roberts of Laclede Co. Noah was born in 1889 and married a Blackburn. I know children in my family lived with a Blackburn family (found on one census) at one point (either Lowry, Mullicane, or Breedlove - can't remember at the moment which one). So, it is logical that this is the right Noah who was a relative of my grandmother. I believe she thought of him as a cousin of some sort. Are you related to the Breedloves that come down from Cindarilla Breedlove or her siblings? Carole Colquehoun ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Brown <blbrown@cyberlynk.com> To: Carole L. 3. Nancy, Another interesting thing about all this is that I believe I have a letter from Thomas's son, Noah V. Breedlove, to Maude Strickland, my grandmother. I found it in her things after she died (one month short of 100 years old). Noah was describing, in the letter, why he left Missouri and came to California. The letter had no envelope or date on it, nor did it have Noah's last name. But, of all the relatives, I can't find another Noah, and it seems to fit because he was of my grandmother's generation, her family was from Laclede County, Missouri and she was raised in Springfield, MO. (She moved to California with her extended family many years after her marriage.) (I am in the midst of packing to move, and the letter is in my boxes of genealogy information in storage. Once I get moved, probably in another couple of months, I hope I remember to find the letter and transcribe it on line for everyone.) Does anyone know if Noah left Missouri for California right after a massive flood? That is what he said in the letter. Carole C.

    3. Nancy, I find one discrepancy in your information. It is regarding Anna Fry. Here are all my notes from Thomas's file. As you can see, Anna's maiden name is unknown. She was married to Sam Fry, and it appears that David Fry is probably her father in-law or a brother-in-law, not her father. Also, you will see another date for Thomas's birth --- Dec 31, 1844 or 1845 --- in the notes that comes from his death certificate, also --- 31 Dec 1844 --- in his pension record. Do you have a source for January as the month? 3. Ellen, Having written down just about everything for awhile that I found on the Breedlove's, I even have information about Thomas David Breedlove et al. Some of it came out of your book and the rest from various documents and sources; including various newspaper accounts of the accident that killed him. Evidently, Thomas D.'s first wife was Rachel Caroline Arnold and the children from that union were Harriett E. (Mrs. Worley), Martha E. (Mrs. Medley), and William J.. His second wife was Isabella Abigail Wyatt and the children from that marriage were Rosetta who married a Cecil Jennings [Ellis?] Alfred C., Noah V, Malinda E. and Ida F. [which of those last two were married to Van Creech, I don't have in my notes]. He married, last, Ruth Anna Fry, who had none of his children, but collected his pension. :-) Carole C. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ellen Byrne <dande@mail.tds.net> To: <BREEDLOVE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 23, 1999 8:21 AM Subject: [BREEDLOVE-L] Worley name > Lost the address of the person looking for Worley/Breedlove name. > As I recall this Thomas was son of Warren J & Betty Breedlove. > > The death notice of Thomas D. My new e-mail address, which you should use if you need to contact me directly, is tomjones@toad.net. Also, my Breedlove internet genealogy page (http://pages.prodigy.com/VSVE92A/breemail.html) will be closed down sometime around October of this year. It'll be migrating to my new Toadnet account. I'll let you know when it gets there. Tom

There is no way to determine if any of these were brothers, as there are several James and John Breedlove's who were old enough in Greene County to own land. Spencer we know for sure is the son of James and Nancy Simmons Breedlove. Rachel is Rachel Rogers, widow of Spencer's son Charles Francis Breedlove who died in 1869. There are no known Rachel Breedlove's in any of the Greene County Breedlove's except this widow. Hope this helps. Tom King

    3. Lenora, I'm fascinated by your question though I don't know that I can help you. But I thought my Breedloves were the only ones in this part of Texas in that period. My great grandfather was Jefferson Davis Breedlove who about 1890 was going back and forth, sometimes living in Erath County and sometimes in the southeast part of Texas (near Houston) in Austin County. He had a brother Thomas Larkin Breedlove who lived in Brown County, Erath County, and Comanche counties some of the time. I have not known of one in Fisher County, though. Fisher County is one maybe ten miles from Haskell County where my great uncle Charles Berryman Breedlove was superintendent of schools, but he was born November 9, 1886, at Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas, so couldn't be the "C. R. Breedlove" father of Frankie. Colorado County is adjacent to Austin County, and the proximity of the two sets of counties seems quite a coincidence. Jefferson Davis Breedlove and Thomas Larkin Breedlove were sons of Simpson Breedlove and his second wife, Emmaline Matilda Hodge(s). If anyone would like a fuller description of the family, I'll send it privately. Barbara Breedlove Rollins (who lives in Taylor County adjacent to Fisher County) > -----Original Message----- > From: LGut800427@aol.com <LGut800427@aol.com> > > : Here is my query: In the year of 1890, a young girl wrote a love letter to > :her handsome Cowboy on a ranch in another county.
