Hi all, I decided to post something because I have a lot of research that I can't use, but someone else might. Hopefully, this comes across somewhat readable. If I've sent this before, forgive me. But, we might have new people who haven't seen it. I've got more like this and I will continue to send them every once in awhile. The majority of them are from about 1889 to 1935. A few older, some more recent. The Miller County are indexed by both Groom and Bride. The Bowie County are indexed by Groom only. Currently, we are working to index these by Bride as well but it will take a while longer. They can be obtained for the low cost of $2.50, a SASE and a short lineage chart showing your relationship to the individuals. If you had relatives who married in either of these counties in this time frame, I will be happy to check for availability of their certificates. If we have them, you will be notified on where to send your information so that it will reach the proper person. Will also notify you if they are not available. We would love to get all of these Certificates placed in the hands of family members as they would be a great addition to your family records. Please feel free to forward this mail to any list to which you subscribe. This message is in response to the posting of Simpson Breedlove in the Civil War. I have on loan from the library a copy of "Arkansas Confederate Veterans and Widows Pension Applications" by Francis T. Ingmire. These people are not related to me but, thought I would pass along the information. There is a listing for the following: BREADLOVE, Ransom vet # 1688, Co D, 3rd Regiment AR Inf, served 1861-1865, wounded, applied for pension 25 Aug 1894, Drew County BREEDLOVE, W.E. vet # 3997, widow BREEDLOVE, Susie J., widow # 3997, Co D, 3rd Regiment AR Inf, served 1861-1865, wounded, veteran applied for pension 16 Aug 1901, widow applied 10 Aug 1903, Drew County, veteran deceased 12 Nov 1902. I am related to this family however, and I am looking for someone to share info with who is related to Susan Alice BREEDLOVE or Mary Zella BREEDLOVE. I have been told that they were the children of Thomas Monroe BREEDLOVE and Elizabeth GRAHAM. This I cannot confirm. Mary Zella BREEDLOVE was b. 18 Jun 1877 in Indiana. She married about 1893 to Virgil Curtis Clark b. 02 Jan 1869 in Illinois, d. 28 Sep 1918. Three children were born: Leonard L. CLARK b. 15 Jun 1894, d. 17 Jul 1982 William CLARK b. Mar 1898 Harley CLARK b. abt. 1901 It is believed that Harley died in childbirth along with his mother. Virgil CLARK then married Mary's sister, Susan Alice BREEDLOVE b. 16 Dec 1870 in Indiana and d. 26 Jul 1946. Susan and Virgil had the following children: Marion Theodore CLARK b. 29 Oct 1902 in Indiana, d. 04 Oct 1962 in Arkansas Opal CLARK b. abt. 1907 Edna CLARK After Virgil's death Susan remarried 24 Dec 1919 in Cleburne County, Arkansas to Martin Elberry DOLLAR. I have a copy of the 1920 Census from Cleburne County, which lists Susan, Martin, two of his children from a previous marriage and Marion and Edna CLARK.

Marilyn, That could be William Watkins Breedlove, son of John Breedlove and Elizabeth Watkins. He married Sarah H. Foster of Prince Edward County. He was living in the area at the time. I have done some research on Judith Walker, Sarah H. Foster's mother. Would anyone be interested is the results of this research? Martha
Dear Cousins, I'm not sure of the identity of the William Breedlove in the record below. Marilyn Owen BREEDLOVE COURT RECORDS, PRINCE EDWARD DISTRICT, VA, 1789-1809 From the book "Virginia's District Courts" by Mary Bondurant Warren and Eve B. Weeks [Prince Edward District included Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax & Prince Edward Counties] Records at Large Book II pp. 254-55. Joseph Calland, by James Lyle, administrator, who was surviving partner of Joseph Calland and Co. vs. John Stinson et al, in Debt, Buckingham Co. Trial 9-9-1796 in District Court. Jury: John Blanton, John Halcombe, Brett Randolph, Jacob Price, John Dupuy, Charles Allen, Benjamin Allen, William Womack Sr., Dudley Barksdale, WILLIAM BREEDLOVE, John Richards & George Moore. Jury ruled the bill had been paid.

BREEDLOVE, William Smith & Elizabeth his wife which said > William Smith is adminstrator of MADISON BREEDLOVE deceased, > Augustine Lanford and Nancy his wife, ELLIOT B. BREEDLOVE, ABSOLOM > BREELOVE and JANE BREEDLOVE, ....... The exact reference is Albemarle Will Book 5, pg 82 Division of Estate pg 101 Inventory of Estate pg 165 Accounting of Administration Nancy's husband is Augustine SANFORD, Jr. The curly shaped S looks like an L but is really an "S". They had 11 children. Another reference is Albemarle Loose Guardian Bonds, 3 Sep 1810, Parent Madison Breedlove, Orphans Polly, Aylett, Absolom W., and Jane Breedlove, Guardian William Smith (Sadler), $500 lbs, security Dabney Minor, Peter Minor and Samuel Carr. Note that Madison's daughter Polly is not mentioned in the further court records so I presume she died before 1816. The Aylett or Elliott B. Breedlove is Aglette Benjamin Breedlove who married Mary Woods in Tennessee. Absalom W. Breedlove married Susanna Clark in Mississippi and came to Texas c1832. There is no mention anywhere else in these records of a son James Waller Breedlove who has been presumed to be a brother of Absolom Breedlove. James Waller Breedlove administered the estate of Absolom which mainly consisted of land received for service at the Battle of San Jacinto for Texas Independence. James Waller did live in Louisiana at the time so it is assumed that the complainant James Breedlove is the same as James Waller Breedlove. The big question now seems to be who were Madison's parents and who ere his wife Judith Buckner's parents? Judith appears to have been an orphan herself. For a long time Madison has been presumed to be the son of Thomas Breedlove and Sarah Broaddus, which I have rather accepted on faith with no positive proof. The 1803 will of William Breedlove in King William County with a son Madison makes me question the original presumed parentage. Tom King
Dear Breedlove cousins, Tom King wrote: The exact reference is Albemarle Will Book 5, pg 82 Division of Estate pg 101 Inventory of Estate pg 165 Accounting of Administration I presume that you are giving additional references where material on the estate of Madison Breedlove can be found. The references I gave were from two microfilms of the Albemarle County, Virginia COURT ORDERS; the first, 00330261, covers the dates 1813-1818; the second, 0030261, cover the dates 1818-1822. I looked very carefully at Mr. Lanford/Sanford's name, being aware of the confusion over the capital "S" and a capital "L" in the old handwriting. All I can say is that elsewhere on the same page in the same hand, is a capital "L" [in the name Lewis] which is made exactly the same as the initial letter in the name of the gentleman in question. In addition where the name Smith is written, the initial letter "S" is made differently. However, you can go through this page and point out where other capital letters "S", "L" and even "J" look the same. Marilyn Owen
Just a test. Thanks. Carole
Dear Breedlove Cousins, I was going over two Albemarle Co., VA Court Order films, looking for my families from that county, and found the entries below on the family of Madison Breedlove who died there in 1810. COURT, DECEMBER, 1816 JANE BREEDLOVE orphan of MADISON BREEDLOVE deceased comes into Court and makes choice of Eben Cleveland as her guardian who therefore gives bond and security accordingly. ALBEMARLE CO., VA COURT RECORDS from LDS Film # 0030262 COURT SEPTEMBER 1817 JAMES BREEDLOVE, Plaintiff in Chancery Against NATHAN T BREEDLOVE, William Smith & Elizabeth his wife which said William Smith is administrator of MADISON BREEDLOVE deceased, Augustine Lanford and Nancy his wife, ELLIOT B.
