Hello, This is just a brief administrative message to welcome all researchers to the revamped combined Breedlove surname board. The transition hasn't been without bumps and glitches, but hopefully the powers that be will fine tune the system. Eventually this board will be gatewayed with BREEDLOVE-L (mailing list of which I've been administrator for 5 years) -- my apologies if it has indeed been activated and folks on BREEDLOVE-L are receiving this. As administrator I also have the ability to delete off-topic or offensive posts. Contact me privately at tomjones@toad.net (ignore the e-mail address in my profile) if you have issues or questions about the new system as it pertains to this board or Breedlove research. Regards, Tom
Gang, This is only a test message to see if the GenConnect/Ancestry bulletin board has affected the functioning of this mailing list. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you'd like to discuss this issue, please contact me privately. Thanks! Tom listadmin, BREEDLOVE-L
Dear All, Does anybody have a current e-mail for Edwin Broadus of Canada? The one that I have ( ebroadus@npiec.on.ca ) doesn't work. Thanks in advance for any help. Tom listadmin, BREEDLOVE-L

Someone may have already answered your request but there is a great deal of information on your Breedlove line available on the Breedlove List. Richard Foster Breedlove is the son of William Watkins Breedlove and his wife Sarah H. Foster. He is named after his grandfather, Richard Foster. His siblings are as follows: Elizabeth Watkins Breedlove, William Watkins Breedlove, Jr., Judith Breedlove, John Harding Breedlove (my great-great grandfather), Benjamin H. Breedlove and Lucy Foster Breedlove. I once saw the grave of Richard, his wife Sarah and Kalista in Walton County, GA. Do you have birth and death dates for the siblings of Kalista? I would love to have them. Martha Breedlove Kahn
On p. 120 of "English Duplicates of Lost Virginia Records" (1958) the compiler, Louis des Cognets, Jr., lists a patent issued to Richard Broadus. I have not read this book but have an excerpt passed on to me. The date the land was surveyed was Dec. 17, 1735 (or 1736 - what was passed on to me has both dates). It was apparently included under "a List of Patents Granted in the Forks of Rappahannock River and Westwood of Sherrando River." The position is given as "in the Little Fork." I have puzzled over the references to Westwood, Sherrando River and Little Fork. Then I found some clues in a reprint in National Geographic's "Historical Atlas of the United States (1988) of a map done by Joshua Fry and Peter Jefferson (father of Thomas) in 1751. What we now call the Shenandoah River was spelled "Sherrando." A few miles below the source of what we now call the Rappahannock River ("Hedgeman" on the 1751 map) was a site called "Little Fork." Its location would indicate it is in the northern part of Rappahannock Co., which was a part of Culpeper Co. in 1751. My own guess is that this land was near the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. If that is true, it helps explain why Richard did not perfect title to it. It was likely too far from civilization. But I would like to do more than guess. I am writing this hoping someone can help me out. If anyone has access to the book, I would like to know more exactly what it says. Also, if anyone can identify "Westwood" and "Hedgeman," I would like that information. Finally, I would like to find out whether the correct year was 1735 or 1736. I am assuming this is Richard Broaddus, son of Edward and father of Sarah (wife of Thomas Breedlove), Elizabeth, Edward and William. Ed Broadus
Posted on: Breedlove Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Breedlove/10058 Surname: Foster, Watkins ------------------------- I am looking for information on the Georgia Breedloves. My great-great-great grandparents were Richard Foster Breedlove (d. Walton County, GA 11.07.1865) and Sara H. Breedlove (d. 12.05.1873). Their daughter, my great-great grandmother was Klista H. Breedlove. I would like to know if Klista had any siblings? Klista H. Breedlove (b. 03.19.1834, d. 08.04.1864 Walton County, GA) married Enoch McCollum. (All the above are buried in Walton County, GA)Their daughter (my great grandmother) was Missouri Josephine McCollum. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
I guess I should have been more specific. I didn't want to sound like I was "selling" a program. The one I am using is Broderbund 3D Home Design Suite. I would think that any program that you could use to show floor plans and maybe 3D views would be usable though. I was thinking that especially the 3D view might be most interesting. Some programs even let you color in the siding, etc. Carol Wilkerson
This is just a thought I had about sharing images in general genealogy. While working with a home design program that I have, it occured to me that it would be a wonderful tool to use with an older realtive. Sometimes the "old homestead" is no longer in existance, but the memories of the house are still in the mind of the older person. It might take a little estimation on the part of the home design program user, but if the two (or more) of them worked together, perhaps they could come up with an example of what the old home used to look like. This is also something that could be done on a personal basis of course, where you can show your chidren just what the houses looked like that you lived in. I know it would take some doing, but it seems like maybe a possibility for sharing a "picture" where no other one exists. I know not everyone has these kinds of programs, but for those that do, it might be a handy tool. Carol Wilkerson

The information I have in my database may only confuse your search and probably not help at all. But that never stopped me. <grin> I have a William H. Breedlove whose middle name was probably Henry who married an Annie T. Lord about 1869 in Kentucky. This William was born September 1843 in Warren Kentucky and died sometime before 1943 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. The were on the 1850 Census of Warren County KY, Schedule page 1 (I saw it in a Kentucky census book in the LDS library in Los Angeles, page 269). Tom King has information on these people, I believe. This would make Annie show up on records as Annie or Ann Breedlove, born circa 1843. As far as I know, William did not have a sister named Anna and his father was not William, either. Then I have a William McKindry and Cooksey parents who had a William H. born around 1823. He married in 1850 and 1875, though, and no Anna. Sorry. I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday and omitted the locations for my BREEDLOVE family. William M. Breedlove was probably born somewhere in KY. Not sure of the county. Maybe Simpson, but no proof of that. I have a copy of a letter written by Sallie Breedlove, granddaughter of William M. that says, :" He built a gristmill near Three Rivers, Osage County, Missouri", according to Sallie's letter of 21 Jan. 1947-"He was the oldest son, moved with wife and her folks to St. Francois County, Missouri." William's son John Breedlove later lived in Howell county, MO near Pottersville. Some Breedlove descendants still are residing in Howell county and I am in contact with them.
