    3. Hi-re Sarah Broadus-cousin Jane Ferguson of Florida is the first one I know of that discovered Sarah's maiden name. the mother in law of one of her children happened to have a book that named Thomas Breedlove's wife as Sarah Broaddus, on the interenet the group is Broadhurst. For a lot of years we hoped we had it right but werent sure if she was Thomas SR or JR 's son. Jane was the first person I knew who joined the DAR on the service of Thomas Sr. I also added him as a supplemental DAR ancestor. There are several Breedlove's who served, anyone can join DAR or SAR on their service. Since we now pretty much have the ch of Thomas Jr-seems that problem has been solved re Broaddus- and Sarah's parents were Richard Broaddus and Bridgit Vaughan - whose mother was Leavell. 3. To Breedlove researchers- seems like I have seen some people interested in the Watts-Breedlove marriages. 3. So what does everyone think about the idea of Thomas Breedlove (DOB 1650) being married to Kindness instead of Sarah Broaddus. And what do you think about Thomas Breedlove(DOB 1730), son of Charles and Mary Parr Breedlove, being the one married to Sara Broaddus instead of being married to Sarah unknown last name. What about Charles Breedlove(1756-1829), son of James Breedlove, Sr., now not being the one married to Sarah Fletcher(DOM 1774); but rather Charles Breedlove(DOB 1737), son of Charles Breedlove, being married to Sarah Fletcher. Lastly, I did not know James, Jr. and Lucrecy had a son named Thomas. What happened to their dtr, Sally Almand? Who does she belong to? This is all very interesting! Georgia

    3. In reply to Ellen Byrne's message concerning Broadus, I agree with all that she listed for the family of Thomas & Sarah Broadus Breedlove except for the daughter Kindness who married William Stembridge. More than likely this Kindness is a daughter of James Breedlove Jr, and his wife Kindness ??? who later ? married a Shorter. This marriage to William Stembridge is in Lunenburg Co. where James lived. There was a daughter Kindness but she may be the one who married Richard Buck. Also I have found no proof of the son Phillip. There was a Philip married to Nancy Barnes but it is more probable that he is the son of Phillip and Sarah Gore. Both Phillip's are shown on militia list for Culpeper in the 1780's with one being much older than the younger one so they were more likely father and son. Our Thomas was never in Culpeper. This bunch in Culpeper is most likely the ancestors of Berryman who lived in NC before moving to Indiana. The family of Thomas Jr and Sarah Thomas is okay, also, from the will I posted last week. The only problem is that I tried to place their son John as the Rev. War soldier born 1761 or 1766 who died in Indiana. Evidently this John was born too early to be their child, so who does he belong to? John, son of Thomas & Sarah Broadus was also a Rev. War soldier. His pension application has his birth in 1752 and he moves to Adams Co., Ohio in 1832 to live with his children. Can identify some children of Thomas, Nathan, Broadus and possibly Edward, but John and the daughters I cannot find records on, YET. I do have a text file of about ten generations of the descendants of Edward Broadus and his wives Dolly Gwynn and Mary Shipley if anyone would like a copy. Regards, Tom King

    3. To Tom King & other Breedlove researchers who have a Broadus connection: I received a very informative letter from Ed Broadus of Canada-email: ebroadus@npiec.on.ca He descends from Richard Broadus and Bridgit Vaughan. He lists Thomas Breedlove b ca 1730, Essex Co Va m SarahBroaddus b ca 1735. Ch: Kindness Breedlove m Jan 1785, william Stembridge Nathan Breedlove John Breedlove b 2752 Thomas b ca 754 Charles Breedlove m 1-Theodosia Clevenger m 2-1774 Sally Fletcher William b v Aug 1761 Benj b 1762 Orange Co m Mary Watkins b ca 1762 Madison Breedlove b ca 1764 m Judy Buckner Cornelius b 1765 m Jane Beck, Cornelius d May 1850 Philliup B. Breedlove Martin b 1771 (ancestor of Ellen Byrne) Richard b ca 1773 m Dec 1789, Mildred Watts Ed has listed Thomas Breedlove b ca 1754 m Sarah Thomas d ca 1808 Orange co Va Ch: John, Thomas, Mary, caty, Nathan, Broadus, Saley, Francis, Edward. Hope this is of interest..it was to me..especially the part that Broadus was son of Thomas and Sarah Thomas Breedlove. Ellen Byrne

    3. This may be of interest to some - it came through my Barnett List. To All Listers, I'm passing along this information I received from another Genealogy list that I belong to. The Bureau Of Land Management keeps records from these States online, Alabama,Arkansas,Flordia,Indiana,Louisiana,Michigan,Minnesota,Mississippi,Missouri,Ohio,Wisconsin. Since I posted the sight to the BLM Land records there has been much traffic in e-mail concerning this site. I must add that my experience on the site has been wonderful. They do have information dating back to 1812 which was when the General Land Office came into existence. The BLM is what was created when the General Land Office and another agency were merged. The site tells this history. They, also, have archived all the records of the orginal two agencies. These records, including land patents, are now online at the site. The site is searchable using the usual conventions. You do not need to fill in every box with information. Filling in just the last name of the patentee, which is how I found what I was looking for, works just fine. So give it a try. You have nothing to loose except a little online time. The address again is <http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/>

    3. Hi Betty I went through my files and found John Breedlove's Will which lists William W. Breedlove as a son and one of the Executors. His other Executor was his fried John Watkins and one of the witnesses was Richard Watkins. There is also a George Watkins listed in the probate. Martha d. ca. 1825. > >Asa Hatley Parker m. Breedlove, believed to be son of Benjamin and >Mary Watkins Breedlove. A number of years ago I contact a Breedlove researcher, Patricia Breedlove Alling who is a descendant of James Breedlove who married a Lucrecy (last name unknown). James is the father of Benjamin Breedlove who married Mary Watkins. One of their children was John who married Nancy Parker (Patricia's line). She listed Benjamin's siblings which included a John Breedlove who married Elizabeth Watkins. John died before 2 Dec 1799 in Charlotte County, Virginia. John and Elizabeth's children were: William Watkins, Nathaniel, Martha W., Mary, Elizabeth (who married a Foster), John, and Samuel. At this point I don't remember what she listed as her source. I'll check my files and see if I can locate any more info. Don
