    3. For those interested, the witnesses to the Will of Thomas Breedlove (Jr) in 1806 in Orange Co., VA, Archeleus and James Carver were brothers of Sarah Carver. Sarah Carver married Micajah Beck and they were the parents of Jarrel Broadus Beck who married Julia Ann Breedlove, dau of Cornelius Breedlove and Jane Beck. Haven't figured out why Jarrel has the middle name of Broadus, but the Beck line must be descended from the Broadus family also. Tom King

    1. Culpeper Co., VA tax list
    2. Marilyn A. Owen
    3. Dear Breedlove Cousins, My name is Marilyn Owen, for those of you that I don't already know. My 2nd great grandmother was Sally Breedlove who married Joel Appling. My Breedlove ancestry is: Sally, William, Thomas, Charles. I have been extracting Breedlove and Broaddus information from the microfilm of the Culpeper Co., VA Personal Property tax lists, and I thought this data might be of interest to some of you. The tax lists begin in 1782 and I checked them through 1800 [see below]. The complete dates covered on the Salt Lake film [#2024517] are 1782-1808; 1809-1844, in case any of you want to order the film for yourselves and search it further. The people on the tax lists were being taxed for themselves, if they were a male, over age 21 and for their slaves and for their horses and cattle. I did not include the animals on the list below, nor the amount of tax the people paid. On some of the earlier lists the names of the slaves were given, but I didn't include that information either. 1. Hope

    3. Several of you have mentioned Hope Perry Breedlove of Stone Mountain, GA who did the Breedlove book years ago. We corresponded for a number of years. Does anyone remember Olive Breedlove Smith of FL? She typed up material, doing 5 pages of onion skin paper, very time consuming and she always sent me a copy. She died far too young. She probably would have solved all our problems. In the next week or so I will have a new email address as I have to change services due to a new phone line so our phone wont be busy all the time. Will send it out as soon as I know. Ellen Byrne

    3. Ellen: Where could I get a copy of the book that Hope wrote on the Breedlove families. Is it one family? Which family? Thanks, Juanita At 11:08 AM 5/20/98 -0700, you wrote: > She probably would have solved all our problems. 3. Attn: Georgia Owens. Being fairly new to internet as well as new to Bowles group I certainly didnt mean to cause such an uproar. My mistake in the first place was sending the message in that matter insteading of saying those were not the children I had listed for Thomas and Sarah but I often do things in a hurry. So I understand how it is when you know you are right about something and someone writes it differently. I have made an effort over the 32 years to help anyone who works on the same lines by giving them whatever info I have..and certainly dont want to confuse them. I am sorry that we had a problem. I shouldnt have said you played games..but if someone else makes a mistake, just try telling them what you think is right. Incidentally, I descend through my grmother Alice Bolles who was dau of Albert Bolles and Susannah Lowery. Susannah was dau of Thomas Lowey and Cinderilla Breedlove. Cinderilla dau of Martin and Eliz Carr Breedlove. Martin of course, son of Thomas and Sarah (Broaddus?) Breedlove. Have used that ? for a lot of years. It would be nice to have it straight. If you can help would greatly appreciate it. I have enjoyed genealogy for many years-joined the DAR primarily because many of them are good genealogist, at the present time I am the State Registrar of State of Idaho. We moved here from NO CA 11 years ago. Have been married 56 yrs to the same man- so you see I am not all bad-later Ellen Byrne (am even going to read this message over before I send it- I am learning)
